If I have a base of 800-1000GP on a steal and then get a +50% base then the game displays my total as 1200-1500GP. So, you can keep piling on bonuses but you will always get something within the displayed range (or close to it, they are a handful of ways to be a little higher/lower). So if your Bob has his min. amount as 974GP then that is exactly what you will get here and there.
The only way to know if you are actually getting the right amount is to find the original base range, find all of your multipliers and manually determine your range. I looked on the wiki and Bob's base isnt there quite yet, but it should be in a day or two.
That also means that is is very very likely that my Bob and your Bob have different ranges displayed as we have different skills and equipment (mine is 1206-3600GP currently).
EDIT: I reread Gravedigger's post (which I totally missed the first time) and went back to the wiki - yep, 1-400 base amount. With that, you should be able to work out the exact range you should have.
That totally makes sense. I am a fool. Thanks yo.
No worries. :)
This is actually something that has come up a number of times. Since basically everything in the game is done this way, it seems like more people should know it. I wonder what a better way of getting the word out on this would be.
