EGS version online only and data collection!!! Why you do this??
No Offline mode, game constantly requires connection to Unity Cloud and EGS.
They also require you to connect your account and provide a bunch of data to their third-party service. This very bad move from devs. I will never buy anything from these developers if they allow themselves to do such a thing.

The game won't launch until you link your account and agree to their license agreement to collect a lot of data. Also, if it doesn't connect to their services (like unity cloud..), the game simply won't load into the main menu.
If the connection is blocked or even there is no internet, and Epic Launcher is in offline mode, the game will not load into the main menu, it is loading endlessly, waiting for a connection.
I wanted to buy the Steam version of the game after trying it on EGS, but now I will never buy anything from them.

Yeah. I was like this free EGS game looks promising, then I saw that I have to login in thru website. Already deleted and forgot this game.

Thank you for sharing this. Looked like a potentially good game but I'm against making an account just to play a game that should be offline

Yeah.. Naming their company "Con Artist Games" then pulling something like this is a bit tone deaf lol.

it works, if you click cancel on the request

No, it's not.
How it works:
This single-player game, when launched, immediately tries to connect to its servers and also to cloud unity, and epic online service. Then, if you allow the connections, it opens your Internet browser, in which it asks to link it with your Epic Games account
and accept their (Devs) license agreement. At the same time, it wants to get rights to your data (impose its license agreement to apply to your account).
There is a huge list of access, such as your online status, use of your data, etc. I deleted the game and do not remember this entire list in detail.
But here's what's important, if you click cancel on the request - Then yes, the game will start and you will be able to play once. If of course you did everything described above and you had the Internet. But if you turn off the game and then start it again, then it will try to connect to the servers again, and will ask for access again.
Without the Internet, it goes into an eternal loading and does not even enter the main menu, as described in previous posts. Which is unacceptable for a single-player game.

Missing the point a little bit. The issue isn't the platform it's the actions of the devs. If it was Epic who were trying to force that stuff then sure I'd buy here.

Ughhhhhh the epic game store version sucks hard. it prompts my webbrowser every time i launch the stupid game, otherwise i'm stuck on a black screen with the Con Artist logo forever.
the first time i tried this game earlier, my web browser took forever to load so the game eventually allowed its stupid self to actually LOAD. put a few hours of gameplay into it. then now i relaunched it, and its prompted me to go through the tutorial again? i really hope i didnt lose my progress... FFS epic game store ruins everything.

edit. ♥♥♥♥ this game with epic game store. it reset my ♥♥♥♥ because i wasn't in 'online' mode earlier after i sunk in a few hours. i tried it a moment ago through epic, and 'online' this time, and it reset me back to zero.

Cancelation works for me. A browser pops up everytime I play Aftermath. Minor inconvinience.

If you got the game for free from Epic then you linked epic and registered to Armor Games then that's your problem lies and we cant do anything about it

hitting cancel worked. if it gets annoying upon launching the game everytime i'll just let it authorize. we all use google and other various things that data collect. i feel like can't really be concerned if willing to use any of those.

i know, if against data collection we should all take a stand and not allow it, but that boat sailed long ago when people either didnt care or were unable to push back against it many years ago.

Legislation might catch up on it in 20 years or so. Also you might not be able to fully eliminate your online footprint, but that doesn't mean you should be stomping around like bigfoot. The less places your data can be stolen from, the less likely it is to be stolen.

What can they actually gather for info if you log in? I do minimal activity on the EGS
lx Sep 25, 2024 @ 6:14am
data is not the most valuable commodity by a chance.
they can gather anything, according to the vague, noninclusive, ambiguous, ... agreements.
