Demo Thoughts
While it was certainly faster paced than most Last Stand games where you can mostly back step away from most the zombies, I think I kind of liked the slower pace of the older games.

Probably just nostalgia talking, but there was something about the old games that was just really great. Not even just the 3d ones, but the 2d as well. Heck, maybe I'll have to get some of my old classmates together to make a open world version of Last Stand Union City or something. Mostly because I really adored Dead Zone, but more so for the single player part. So recreating something like it for 2d might be an easier project to tackle for someone who has only a bit of game dev experience from my old college days.

Nostalgia aside, maybe I'm just getting old and that's why I prefer slower paced games. :hunky_skull:

Ironically, this is exactly what I LOVE about Aftermath, its slower pace. I'm an old fart gamer and this is the perfect type of game for me that doesn't require cat-like reflexes or numbingly precise jumping puzzles. That's not to take anything away from the old Flash games, they were amazing but I found this to be a great transition into 3D and love the world detail (I didn't play the online one). Despite a little jank and some bugs, I found the gameplay loop totally addicting and only recently put it down after getting 100% cheevos and unlocking all the supply depot tiers. Happily pick it back up again if there's ever new content.
That's a good idea about open world and is what I really wish was included in Aftermath, a sandbox mode with no infection timer that lets you go anywhere in all zones, both forward and back indefinitely to just have fun.
