Also, if the devs end up making explosives too realistic in this game, then it would take away the "action" aspect of this game. It would be like a topdown version of Squad/ARMA.
Well, for the grenade launcher, I was surprised it even did go off. In their older game, Last Stand: Union City, the grenade launcher wouldn't detonate if you were too close. That event happened only time for me and I just said to myself that the grenade launcher is too heavy, niche, and dangerous to ever pick up again.
What happened after that was a box mine. That I just chalked up to being too close, even if I was quite far away.
This time I WAS far away. Literally threw the military hand grenade off screen and took a step back. There was no reason for it to kill me. The average effective distance of a modern hand grenade is the size of a room or roughly a five to seven foot radius. Any bigger and you risk damaging the user. The size of this explosion was the equivalent of a 15 foot radius bomb. I mean, give me a Davy Crockett launcher if your going to make explosions that big, lol.
That being said. It might be a dimensional problem with the programming, as I have been closer to the hand grenades explosions before and didn't get hurt. My guess is that, to compensate for the tilted perspective of the game, they made the damage circle more ovular just like in DOTA 2 and their indicator pallets, but probably over compensated. The time it killed me, I threw it to the 'side', while most of my other uses was to the 'front' or 'back' of myself.
