Best run so far, even if it ain't much special

Level 16, got to dungeon level 12, only to get one-shot by a random-spawn stone giant skeletal warrior, crit me on the first round of melee for 249.

Tried to go primarily CQC with grafted extra arms, but once I maxxed out the skill trees for armor and axes I wound up maxxing out healing, hydro, literacy, and got halfway through smiting before I got bumped off for not spamming magic as soon as I saw an otherwise ordinary looking spawn.

Honestly, wish the balance was such that getting randomly one-shot wasn't now a concern. Next time I'll know better? Can't say it's very satisfying thinking about immediately buffing for what should be normal encounters at lower levels.

Hey devs! Hey! How about a game-wide high score list? It's cool being able to compare yourself to yourself, and my score ain't much, but it'd be nice getting that QOL, even if it doesn't mean much this early in development.

i found that for me easiest way to play and survive is playing rogue in current game state. (i am starting with human warrior with short blade and medium armor and athletic) when it levelup i took grafting and shield. My best run was yesterday, so far i reached 100k+ score but unfortunately due the bug was instantly killed by plant at 20th level of dungeon of chaos.
I tried different builds but this one is most tenacious..

best build for me has been archer with magic, specializing in stealth.

I agree that, aside from bug kills, i've been killed most by criticals. I'll be full health and everything and then WHAM, i'm a dead adventurer.

Cant' say that's different from the original ADOM though. Just in that it was easier to build magic builds, whereas in this magic builds are hard to build so the old wizard class ain't as good as it used to be, therefore it's not as easy to kill as many monsters at range with magic.

@huxley_wobb in original adom, yes priest and wizard are most easiest class to play but here, mage is hard mode. A lot of monster resist magic and especially at start you dont have enough power point to kill all mobs that hanging out around. But daggers kill everything. I only have troubles with skeletons warrior with axes at 16-19th floors , they cutting my limbs very often, so i just use stealth to kill them.

I totally agree. This still needs more work. Actually with Fridays' release critical hits in 99% of the cases (literally) only should double to the PC - unless he is cursed or doomed. Then it's different and much more deadly. But still 1% probably can be very annoying. We'll continue working on this.

This definitely will be a thing. But currently the scoring model still is a bit silly and needs improvement. That's we will wait a little longer with a global score list. But it will come!

Yeah,one getting one-shotted is annoying. My lvl 26 fighter died when a lich hit him at his right arm and sliced his head off. Maybe I should have grafted an extra head.

Your name is showing as a random series of integers, but thank you for confirming that being cursed (which I was) was part of this. Definitely gonna steer clear of the karma lizards from now on!

Also, yeah I kinda figured scoring wouldn't make much sense with the current build, but it's still a fun thing to keep engagement up. Even with everything changing, it'd be cool to see who can get the deepest and highest in character level, since I'm sure only a small fraction of players are going to be willing to post on the discussion board about it.

I grafted an extra head but my original head got chopped off and that was the one that counted. Died at level 33. :(

daaaaamn. feels bad man. that'd be a cool mechanic tho -- especially if your new head (assuming your original head got cut off) gave you a whole new set of skills and abilities -- like on the same level, but sorta like a class switch mid-game.
