I'm assuming the developer lives in california. (Jk)

but yeah I found that the most random thing to do ive never seen genders featured in a trailer so you know exactly who they are targeting. lol

The trailer says six genders.

Four classes, four races, but six genders.

And this was worth bragging about in the trailer. Somehow.

They'd better have a big impact on gameplay or this is just... dumb.

Having both and tentacled at least seems like a compromise. I can't stand the insertion of politics for no reason other than politics but if they're going so far as to have tentacled and "both" which both seem more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I imagine have in-game effects, I can't really complain. If that's about where they leave it, it should be fine but if there's more "SJW" stuff in it then it'll end up a pass, I game to get away from things that annoy me IRL. Which would suck because the game otherwise looks really good.

Hi everybody,

I read the explanation in the link. Unfortunately, I can't accept this explanation that someone signed a "pledge to support diversity in games", perhaps not to look like a racist or a homophobe. I refuse to push similar ideas into games for people and children. Although I like the game and I was looking forward to it, I will not buy the game if it contains these decadent things. I am all the more sorry that European studies also promote multi-gender in this way, --- it is not tolerance, but promotion. Next time, you can promote pedophiles, and I don't agree with that.

It's funny to see all the rightoid crybullies in here trying to ultimately profess that you're either a straight dude or you're political.

Hi everybody,
please stick to the rules.
If this discussion turns to be an exchange about the term 'gender', please refer to other channels/sources, as this Community Hub, or all Community Hubs in general concentrate on the games and the fun, joy and exchange of gameplay experience, as well as how to improve the game and not starting political, religious or other topics that derail the original topic completely and turn far away from the orginal content: the game.
Not to mention that you have agreed on those rules when entering the Steam Community Hubs, so please stick to them accordingly.
Thank you for understanding.

OK then, reiterating the main thing:

It is my strong preference that when making a character you choose the appearance, and that there are no gameplay implications for this choice. No sexist crap like 'males get +1 str'. No gender and no sex at all, let me pick the character that looks like me and build them how I want. No pigeonholes.

From a game point of view, differentiating between the sexes is completely useless if it does not give bonuses. Visually, the figure can be either a woman or a man, but no one knows what equipment she/he/it has under her skirt. Maybe it's enough to choose a form of addressing and remove the extended gender. To avoid such complaints of discrimination, because it already exists 40+ gender :) I still can't get rid of the feeling that you're wasting time on something that a negligible percentage of people will appreciate, on the contrary, it will discourage many people.

@Assemble_Xer0I have attempted to post at the link you provided instead, but it does not show up. No error is generated. I can see other comments posted today, and I can see comments with some pretty hateful content. So I'm suspecting there is a comment length limit and no corresponding error, or that comments are manually approved and I have to wait awhile.

Hi everybody,
please be aware that the individual genders will also provide small and varying stats/bonuses.
However, none have a negative impact, and those are quite small, meaning with no heavy impact on the overall game.
Not to mention, that this is also common in rogue-likes and the high-fantasy setting in general, that besides differing stats between the races also genders have slightly different stats/boni.
Meaning, male and female in e.g. the classic ADOM have their own stats/boni as well as the new genders introduced with Ultimate ADOM, similar to many other games from the genre and e.g. in many classic and new pen and paper rpgs for example.
We simply want to stay true to our old game, and simply to the genre and setting in general as well.
Not to mention the many new ways that also encourage replayability that comes with the diversity.
Last but not least: Those bonuses and stats are still up to balancing, as the game is still right into development.

Hope this helps and sheds some light onto this.

-cheers

if they have different stats I'm definitely more cautiously optimistic about their inclusion.
