I've never seen a game look better in DX12 mode either tbh, you sure it looks better in dx12 mode? DX11 usually looks identical and runs way better
i dont think dx12 contains any new graphical techniques anyways, its just a performance API.. which ironically hurts performance
it should be that way lol, you found an example of dx12 improving performance
i dont own it but dx11 and dx12 have to use different .exe files (im like 90% certain)
a high fps number in one spot is hardly a benchmark, you'd have to play for a while and see the overall game stability
and games run smoother 60fps + vsync than 100+fps raw
Start the game through your library, there youll have an option to choose between dx11 and 12
I had similar experiences. Every area I tested in the early missions had higher FPS in 12 than 11
This is a great example of you not knowing wtf you're talking about. Dx12 runs this game better overall, not just in singular examples.
@OP, at the end of the day you have to test them for yourself. APIs will handle a game wildly different on different hardware. A great example of this is RDR2. On my RX570 Vulkan ran it better but on my new 1660 DX12 was significantly better. Same kinds of things happen with DX11 vs 12; if a card can't handle certain DX12 calls well, 11 will run better. SO while we can tell you that DX12 is running better for us, your results may vary and you should test for yourself.
That said, FSR is a must have enabled option, as generally the game runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ without it, even on Medium on a 1660 OC 6GB.
dx12 is bad. If a developer is using DX12 that means they are bad. Vulkan has surpassed dx12 about 4 yrs ago. Doesn't matter if you agree or not its a fact of the universe
Not really, a lot of games let you choose your prefered graphics api in the settings menu, but you normally have to restart the game
