Ships At Sea

So many questions about net fishing
Hi all, just started net fishing in the conquest and I could use clarification on some points.

I can bring the buoy in alongside ship then I have to perform the following before it drifts out of range:
1. Leave cabin and pull out fish box when I ve passed it as there is no way to move past the fish box when it is pulled out.
2.Go into the net area and close the hatch behind me
3.Turn on the hauler.

Is there anyway to push the fish box out when I ve started hauling?
Is there a way to get past the fish box when it is pulled out?

If I don t pull the fish box out I can unentangle the fish but there is no option to put it in the box. The only thing I can do is Press X which places the fish in my inventory but it is only one fish. I think I ve read that you literally only catch 3 fish per net, there is no multiplier effect. So is no one net fishing aside from gaining experience and XP.

Any other hints or tips appreciated. Regards

Basically what i do is come along side the buoy.
Go into where the hauler is and close the hatch. Turn the hauler on and take it to speed 2 or 3.
Whilst the net is reeling in , You do have time to look down at the fish box and push it out. when you see the fish in the net you have 2 options . Look down at the fish box and you will get option to push it out. This is hitty miss for me so i leave the box where it is.
Once you take the pegs out of the fish and get its tail. Look down at the box and it will say store this fish and then just push E key and you will see it in the box. You will not see the option to push the box out if you are holding a fish.
Once net is hauled in, open the hatch and if you have the box pushed out then you have to push it back under the table be for going to the wheel house for the next buoy..
Rinse and repeat for the next nets.....

Net fishing is worth it for the multiple experience points and xp you gain.

I also had a problem where i had this huge cod on the table that stretched round behind the Hauler and was unable to take the pegs out of its tail. kept telling me hauling in progress and was unable to get that monster cod . I gave up on net fishing because of this problem. I asked in a post about this problem and was not aware that there was a red button on the hauler that once pressed it then clears the table and readies you for the next net. I lost that monster cod and the exact same thing happened on the next net i hauled up.
The fish seem to be smaller in the southern regions and i had no problems there when net fishing. furthest north western and eastern spots is where i found the biggest fish.

Thanks for the reply. So it looks like there is a way to get the fish in the box without moving the box. I ll experiment further. Thanks very much for the help. regards
you're lucky you can keep the buoy inside the hauling area, I've just tried for 2 hours solid, i managed to get the buoy in the area which turned green, back into the boat, closed the table, started the hauler by which time the buoy was 10ft away, i must've repeated this at least 40 times without success :(

Believe me when i say i found it very tedious at first. There is a knack to getting the buoys. Always approach the buoy with the wind coming towards you . Its about the timing and throttle at this point. Full throttle the engine towards the buoy and then kill the engine, At the last second try to swing the back of the boat in towards the buoy . The wind then brings the buoy closer in to the boat . Most times i would over cook the throttle and the buoy would settle under the boat on the wrong side. Once you work out the angle to swing the boat in towards the buoy it will become easier and easier for you. Just remember to full throttle in and then hit X to kill the engine whilst swinging the back of the boat round into the buoy. If you over cook it hit full reverse and hit X.

Hope this helps.
@andyb417. Trust me I also found it really frustrating. Robuk has some really good suggestions and describes how I do it for the most part. I also kill the engine but it can help to hit the reverse key as sometimes the current carries you in too fast.If you do overshoot reversing back to the buoy can be easier as the boat seems to turn tighter. I did try coming alongside the buoy with the wind blowing it to the ship but the buoy disappears under the boat too easily imho.
The main thing is to be patient, initially as soon as the circle went green I was running for the net hauler. Now I take an extra second to see how quick the buoy is passing. I only leave the steering when the buoy is moving slowly.
Having said all that I ve left net fishing for the moment as it is bugged, I literally only get 3 fish per net and got a total of 3000 Nok for nearly 3 hours work. Hopefully the AI crew will be along soon to make everything a little easier for us all. Regards

Thanks makoShark, maybe i was a rushing a bit too much once the circle turned green, going to give it another shot with yours and Robuk's suggestions.

Cheers

I also left net fishing for this reason . It is not worth the time and effort atm . As mentioned above i also got huge cod in the net and could not unpeg them. If you get a huge fish as the first fish to unpeg then you have to hit that button to clear the net and go to the next one. Getting a big fish again as the first fish becomes very frustrating indeed. On the upside to net fishing i found that you do get many skill points for this activity.

@andyb417

If you go longlining set the longlines out like a spiders legs. Start from a centre point work out from it and the next line work back towards the centre , Like the hours on a clock. I use 10 Longlines and once all are set then i rest for 15 hours and all the buoys are gathered together at that starting point. Saves a lot of travel time getting individual buoys.

You dont have to be behind the hatch. you can reach the buttons from outside, just have to aim a bit.
pull out the box when the net is on its way up and put it back when your done.

How do you get longline, for me it´s say i can`t buy in active mode but my boat is not active.
Robuk Apr 8 @ 10:28am
If you have the Flippy,Conquest or Turbo .

1. You need to go to where you buy the boats and kit the boat out with the longline rigging there.
2. Go to the shop and buy a hook to use when hooking the fish from your longlines.
3. Go to the fisheries. Then buy some bait for the longline hooks. It does not matter what bait you buy atm. I buy Herring and Mackerel.
Whilst at the fisheries in the gear section you will see the Longline buckets .Buy what length of longline hooks you want.
Your now set for Longlining.

No, you can't get around it. Yes, you can kick it out but it requires a very specific place that keeps shifting. You can, at least currently, still put the fish in the box even if it isn't kicked out though.

That being said...net fishing is currently great for experience and awful for money. You aren't going to get many fish even when you get good at it.
