T2 cargo boat or fish farm?
hey guys...i was wondering what everyone here would prefer to do ... im at a bit of a crossroads as i'm saving up my money to buy one or the other. Should i buy the fish farm and keep my little Roster boat or go for the T2 cargo ship dr.phil or whatever first and then a fish farm?

I'm in the same position. The general consensus seems to be that buying a fish farm is the easiest way to make millions. However, those who do often lose their sense of purpose and grow frustrated while waiting for new features. Once you have hundreds of millions, there's no real incentive to grind—just visiting the fish farm, sleeping for six days, and unloading food. You buy all the ships, and then... that's it.

So, I'm wondering if I should just continue grinding through fishing until new content is added. Making hundreds of millions this easily might actually be counterproductive, given that the game doesn't have a lot to do yet.

Personally, I like having something to work towards.

Just my thoughts based on how I see it.

yeah thats pretty much how i see it as well. Once you have everything there is no real incentive to want anything or grind ro do anything really... i tihnk thats probably the route im going to take as well... just buy the ship and prob not even bother with the fish farm at all... that way i can squeeze the most time out of the game with the content that it has. I also like having something to work towards... i get bored otherwise. Thanks for the reply... helped me come to my senses lol
If this was a finished product I would agree there would be a sense of purpose doing a slow-ish grind to get content and feel like you are building your company. As it stands, this is early access and I will treat it as such.

When devs release new content I want to be ready to test it, and for that I need money to buy it, and certificate levels. Lagging behind during early access sounds a little counter productive to me, devs need feedback on new content relatively quickly. It's cool to have the Skomcat ship, but it doesn't really do anything new that other ships can't do since we don't have passengers yet. It thus makes little sense to have a gind that feels like it has purpose, when what you grind for isn't providing anything new to the experience other than the ship itself.

That said, I do hope that when the game is released in a final state we all need to start over from the bottom again, all ships and money wiped.
I feel like they nerfed fishing too hard, that or its bugged right now. It doesnt pay nearly what it did in the prior patch and it takes a very long time to fish enough money to pay for tier 3 ships. Hours upon hours upon hours.

Cargo you can forget about it.

So I ended up spending about one or two hours fish farming using the T2 cargo ship and got all of the tier 3 ships but then stopped fish farming because its not that fun.

Now I am sort like wanting them to fix the game so I dont feel like everything is a waste of time with meger rewards.

Also would like my boat to not look all rusty lol.

I tend to agree with Element6. It's EA and all subject to change with the next update. I like having a jump in money and xp ahead of time anticipating what may come next, that's why I went the fish farm route. After the first sale getting the tier 2 boats wasn't a grind. You still have to do missions though because there is no xp in fish farming. Just depends on how you wan't to do it. There is no right or wrong way. I still play American Truck Simulator even though I have millions and can purchase anything I like at any moment, it hasn't spoiled the game for me, it only helps feed the corporate greed side of me :steamhappy:
