Part of the above story was that I had to race back to port to make sure I could swap to a tier 1 boat before the midnight crash. So having a save before the crash is key.
(repost)
"I just had the timecrash happen while at sea. I had put out all my lines, so I rested until just before midnight. Did another short 1 hour rest to get me over the June 1st date and the game ctd'd. Tried a second time without leaving lines in the water, same thing happened. So now I will head back to Rost harbor and try changing boats ect. to see if I can get past the crash date.
Update:
The actual crash time was on the night of May 30 at midnight. So I reloaded in order to get to Rost before that deadline. I changed boat to Flippy and then advanced time to May31, I was not able to change to the Conquest without a CTD. Reloaded last Flippy save and advanced time to July1 and was able to switch to Conquest without a crash."
yeah that should say May1
I remember I had the Fatal error msg. like this, just with the Date i mentioned.
Edit: I think I skipped time to June2.
Do You mean June1?
edit: In game I am at June 6 (thought I was on June 4 ...bla :)
That happens :-)
Edit: On where your autosaves are: Probably smart to back up your save folder ASAP.
X:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Sas\Saved\SaveGames
In the game on the save loading screen you should see before the regular saves, a series of autosaves - check for one that precedes your crash date and use it to get to a teir 1 boat ASAP. Once you have it, SAVE then timeskip for a day or two and you should be good to go. Save again :)
You can also check if you have any Autosave00.sav type files in the savegame directory, if you can find the oldest one, try renaming it to one of your existing SaveGame00 file slots. (although I would try the other method first) .
I don't remember, but maybe under Audio/ Graphics, nothing scary stuff.
What I do know is that my autosaves were no longer accessible in game when I deleted it.
Seems that the config holds the pointers to the autosaves in the game since when I returned the config back to original the autosaves were again accessible.
Not to say that it is deleting the autosaves - just the pointer that the game uses to find them. The autosaves can still be accessed even if you delete the config folder, you just have to manually find them in the save folder.
I originally backed up my config folder, then deleted the one used by the game.
I realised afterwards my autosaves weren't showing up in game.
I decided to copy my original config back and was able to access those autosaves again in game.
A good tip to hedge against the Timecrash bug is to always keep a current save in the harbour. I always save before loading cargo or making any trip. Then I make a separate save when I take that boat out to sea for fishing ect. Once back in the harbour I save my progress to the existing 'harbour save'. Rinse & repeat.
Edit: I don't understand how you are in a Dr Phil - shouldn't you be in a tier 1 boat?
I thought all the tier 2 boats were crashing from the timecrash?
I would switch to a tier 1 boat, especially if you are approaching timecrash dates.
Btw, I'm not 100% shure if I tested with Dr.Phil.
Edit: Anyone tested Dr.Phil with the Timecrash? Please, let us know.
Edit: It's probably May he has to worry about - but I don't trust any date rollovers anymore and the numeric date format is confusing ..bah
Edit: On how he got past the earlier timecrash, guessing that he was likely in a tier 1 boat at the time it occurred. (or maybe it was the DrPhil if it turns out to be safe?)
