Why So hard to catch long line Buoy?

Is anyone else pulling out their hair trying to hook the long line Buoy? I' having an hour at a time, then rage quitting. I hate to give up, but no matter how slow or how close I am to the buoy, I can't seem to get it. Am I supposed to use the fish hook thing, or press on the crane when it gets close. Any help would be great and although I don't mind grinding and wouldn't want it making easy, I DO think this is beyond ridiculous. Just make it s you can grab the buoy, without having a 1mm square hit box on the damn thing. The shame is, I'm loving the game itself and ran small cargo until I could get the large fishing boat (now THAT is some grinding) but now I'm just wasting (real) hours on what should be a simple task. Please help someone.

buy a hook from the store, when the line is being pulled up from the water press i to access inventory to use hook 1st press e to pull the line up, when you see the fish come out have the white dot trained on the fish then hit e a few times you will miss a few but get most when you get the hang of it

I had this same frustration beyond given it all up. Fortunately gamers in this forum help me through it. For me the trouble was I didn't have the hook in my personal slots. This is crazy because the game doesn't tell you whats wrong. Yes I had the hook in my hand but it won't work if its not in your personal inventory, If you buy a hook and it goes into your boat inventory, that's no good. Sell off your light bulbs and fuses to free up personal inventory slots then buy a hook for open slots. Now when you come up to the flag aim at the reel hub not the flag. Then it will tell you when it has hooked.

The hook in the hand is for the fish. Aim the center dot at the line as the fish are reeling in. Many gamers aim at the line hooks or the fish head but I find aiming at the line is the secret.

Watch the waves and position where the waves will push you toward the buoy. When you're in position hit the X key to stop the engine. If you position the boat correctly you will drift to the buoy. Pick up the hook, put the cursor on the reel and when the boat is next to the buoy press E.

All of that said, the longline fishing is extremely unintuitive in comparison to their other games. At least give me the markers back so I know where to aim. Because the head is not the answer 8 out 10 times.

Seems there is more rough sea days then there are calm days although i'm only at 10th april ig so still a few more days to see, Keep at it tho as it makes u a tonne of money, Brought back a couple of the 2500 hook lines an made 7.2mil

agreed they should be catchable at a further distance than rite on the side of the boat, making it more like nets
