Ships At Sea

Ships At Sea

Is this worth buying yet?
Like it the title, I’m wondering if it’s worth buying yet or if I should let it cook some more and get some more features I been watching drea play the game and he originally said don’t buy it as it had a insane amount of bugs but hasn’t said any thing on its state again sense other then its gotten better

I'd say wait.

There isn't much content right now.
For a game called ships at sea, it's missing something really important: ships.

For now there are only 6 boats, 7 if you include the rowboat.

The gameplay loop is boring.
1-Go to one of the two major harbor, get a mission. Sometimes you can take more, sometimes you can't.
2-Make your delivery
3-You usually can't take another mission from the delivery location, so back to the major Harbour you go.

Or buy a fishing boat and hope it works, for what i see in the forum, fishing nets are bugged.

For what I understand, we will have bigger boats, and hopefully actual ships later on with a crew.

The multiplayer isn't quite there yet.

There is content, the game looks good, but if you want a good game to spend a good time with lots of content, this isn't it yet.

guess it depends on you. If you are a patient person then go ahead and buy it. The game doesnt have much in it right now but I have other games to play while waiting for more content.

It's completely personal. I've been mucking around in it having fun for over 100 hours, but I'm also now not really playing it while I wait for new things to come along and add more depth so I feel like carrying on. But I got over 100 hours out of it, a few bugs, one crash. And now I just wait for Fridays to see what the next update will add...

I mean I bought GHPC but that has a decent little bit of content but it also has replay ability as the same maps tue enemy’s arnt always in the exact same spots and the fights end differently, this game seems like there won’t be much replay ability right now so…

The other thing that had my eye was it said it had mp, but some reviews and discussions complained it didn’t have this? So what’s up with this?

You cannot multi crew a ship yet but then ship crew isnt in yet either. I would look at the development plan. Is the game worth playing as is yes, is it finished no!!!! So if you do buy it now you will reach a stop because the content isnt finished

Until the last patch you could get soft locked with a full inventory and I would have warned you against purchase over that but that has been fixed.

I have over 60 hours in and I enjoy doing the fishing and cargo deliveries.

There is still a lot to be added but if you enjoy the water and environment that alone has value. I find the game chill and relaxing to play on my ultra wide just soaking in the environment despite the lack of content but I am lucky enough to not have any crashing issues and honestly I don’t even experience any serious bugs anymore.

I have been avoiding fish farms because you get so much money it would destroy the early game progression. I am mostly focusing on grinding experience right now.

I am happy with my purchase and will be along for the ride as new stuff is added.

Looking at OPs responses I would suggest you wait for the finished version.

i love this game
i can chill with this game
it has bugs but the devs are good at fixing them

It depends if you want something to chill and have running while watching youtube and podcasts or if you want to be really involved and constantly stimulated. If you do want to just chill and cross the seas, its damn awesome and relaxing. If you want to control your ADD, it will not satisfy you.

The devs are super dedicated and putting out multiple patches weekly.

Based on drea’s word these devs have delivered in the past their games always seem to start rocky but eventually come out well polished so I think I’ll give the game time to cook before I buy it

Well I only have 214.2 hours in the game, I love it

It depends and it comes down to personnal preferances. The game has good concepts going and as EA it does have some running issues and such. When I buyed the game it was bit miss advertised.. some stuff were already advertised in EA release what then was not really there or worked at all, but in general they good thing going so far maybe bit too early released in my oppinion but yeah reccomend keeping an eye on it.
