Nintendo is not Steam. Nintendo has a habit of doing things. One moment they are fine, the next they are not. On top of that, they are hypocritical in how they advance. A clear example are their P games on the front page.
Steam on the other hand, really just allows anything. I think the only time they get involved are in a few scenarios.
1. Games like The Day Before.
2. A game is overall not functional.
3. They may look at a game that is viewed too negatively.
Outside of this? They'll let it stand. Steam is the place where indie games are shoved onto, because it is pretty much the only place they can get onto. That or like GoG.
So yeah, expect a PC version.
Death End RQuest and 2 are on Steam and still here. Neptunia series is on Steam and still here.
Hell, they have sorting tags for Sexual Content, Hentai, NSFW, Nudity, Gore. As for age rating? This affects regions that require it to be posted. So, it could affect those places if not given the right rating. However, it would be fine elsewhere.
I'd say forget about Nintendo, and just be fine it'll be released.
As noted, it launched Sep. 19th, 2024 in Japan. It is expected to be in the west and on Steam in 2025, this still has not changed, and wouldn't make any sense for it to change given everything Steam hosts.
On a more precise date. It is expected June 30th 2025 in the West.
Another thing too, when I say Steam allows basically anything. Isn't Black Ops II considered a literal risk due to hackers? Last I remember, you're advised to take caution, or not even download the game.
So yeah, that. It is a massive security risk from what I can tell.
Tokyo Clanpool banned, One of the new nep game retroactively censored, Evenicle 2 banned, Dungeon Travelers 2 banned, Chaos Head ; Noah banned but reverted after a big social media pushback. There are gigantic list of steam disallowed titles and removed games public available on google rn you can go check for yourself. Anyone else sees writing on the wall ages ago, steam is no longer the green pasture for niche game anymore, especially if it involves young looking anime character
Can't say about Tokyo Clanpool, Evenicle 2, etc. As for the recent nep game? For a while, that's the direction they've been going in. I think it goes all the way back to mk2 really. They've been doing this for a while, so it is nothing new there.
Though, as I said. Death End ReQuest is still up, 2 is still up. And all the nep games are still up. Hell, Rebirth 1, 2(although has functioning problems), 3, the action game, VII, VIIR are still there.
I just checked Chaos Head Noah, since it sounded familiar, and it is on Steam as well. It was originally controversial, and Steam initially banned it, they reversed course.
$24.99.
Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 to Another World
It was initially banned, but made an appearance sometime in 2024.
Looks like Steam may ban something initially, but they look to reverse course and allow them on not too much later.
Now, I want to bring up something. This is not political, but a real possibility now. I'm sure you've heard about Project 2025 in the U.S. And the thing to note around the gaming line, and what can stretch over to it. Is that it calls to expand the definition of pornography, as in anything that falls under the vague view.
Blurring the lines on 'inappropriate content'. There is now a scenario created where things can become very ridiculous. In short, censoring will occur because of it. There are calls to expand on digital surveillance efforts.
This spills over into section 230. Platforms like Steam or PlayStation could be sued for every piece of content they carry. As a result, it can lead to companies cracking down, and censoring to avoid getting hit with legal fines.
This means fewer will want to take risks, and the types of games and stories can be limited.
Anyway, I think the point is understood. Now, while the first amendment should protect this. I honestly cannot say, a lot of boundaries have been stepped over at this point.
So, if Steam does take action. They cannot be faulted, since if this part of the project goes through. It is them on the chopping block.
Now, I don't want to be all gloom and doom here. So, the thing to look forward to is. That this is still a long shot to even pass, for multiple reasons.
1. Corporations command the market. Gaming is such an enormous hobby, that getting this madness to pass is slim. Not impossible, but slim. They make too much money, and if the share holders are affected. They'll push down, because all they care about is money. The good with the bad I suppose.
2. The first amendment. Gaming is a form of speech and expression. It is really one of the few things that prevents the government from getting too into the lives of others. However, boundaries have been crossed, limits broken that should not have been at this point.
3. Companies as mentioned, might censor to protect themselves. Though, at least it means the game will still come out. Before this though, you can expect tons of appeals to go through the courts. Whether it will be successful or not, I do not know.
I think that's all I can say. While I don't think this part of Project 2025 will be passed, especially since gaming isn't really on their radar(for now). It is still a risk, and why platforms like Steam might be cautious.
Now, if it doesn't pass, you can expect things in the usual way. Nintendo does Nintendo things, and Steam being the platform to take on basically anything. If something gets banned on Steam, they'll likely reverse it soon enough.
I already said they reverted the ban of CHN. You are mistaken about Dungeon Travelers 2 however, what you saw selling on steam was the FIRST game in the series. THAT was never banned. There are DT2 and DT2-2 that were banned by steam and the ban stays to this day.
Now, about company censorship, don't you find it super funny a game could get rid of all the **problematic** contents and they would still receive the bans anyway. Said steam banned list have many games on it that chose to go down the route of self censorship, and steam STILL rejected them anyway. I mean, it's up to you if you want to wishfully think it's still safe haven for cute anime girls around here but if you start looking at the broad picture anyone would easily come to the conclusion that the movement to sanitize video game industry (or rather, anything Japan) is causing serious harm to IFI's games. Of course, unless you are Otome readers who don't really care either way.
Ah okay, thanks for clarifying. And yes, I agree to get banned anyway after going down the list to meet the criteria is a terrible move.
And yeah, I am not a fan of that whole trend going on as well. I'm more in the mind of, there are tag filters. Play what you wanna play, and mind your own business if someone likes something you don't.
More games are better, less makes things worse. I know this started typically with the AAA games, wasn't hard to notice the change. Been following games as far as I can remember, straight through the 2000's.
The platform makes the rules for whatever reason, and that has to be followed. I'd really just prefer it for developers to make whatever they want. If it fails or succeeds, then that is that. Needless to say, it goes into shareholders interest. Mix that into expectations depending on which part of the world, and it creates a mess.
There has always been a problem with people not getting the message, to mind your own business. Play what you like, and don't bother with what someones else does.
Are the games available on GoG if not on Steam? I'm not limited to this platform, so if they are. Something for me to look into playing.
Good to know, thanks for the info.
Neptunia Sisters V Sisters only got Censored because of a Messup on the ESRB's end and instead of resubmitting the game for Review to get the Right Rating. IF just removed everu instance of Blanc's Cussing. Unpatching it is quite easy. The OG release of the Game dub and Text is on Nexus. It does not even replace the actual Patch file so Steam won't force an Update.
As For Death end Re;quest. I don't see a reason why Valve would Block it. Typically those Bans were games the Cancel Culture Mob got Wind of and Spammed Valve to Ban. Typically Valve does not take Action otherwise. Valve Also does sell Straight up Hentai. Just type it into the Store Search with the Adult Filter turned off. Also Despite attempts to ban it Huniepop is also still on here.
