There are two very important things to keep in mind before doing this:
First, don't do this until after character generation has completed, which in this game means the intro chapter and answering the character background questions. If you mess with the stats too soon, things might get ♥♥♥♥♥.
Second, and this is even more important...
Don't complain to the devs or me if you break something. The file contains many values you can change, and it could be possible to set two things to "true" that are mutually exclusive through normal gameplay, so the game won't know how to deal with that if it happens because it isn't SUPPOSED to happen.
That said, here we go:
Use Notepad++ . The file location for me (using Windows 10) is C:\Steam\userdata\your id (it won't actually say "your id", it'll be your personal number)\1266100. Click the "Remote" folder and then open storePSparliamentofknivesPSstate.
Some useful values to change:
**Hunger**: Every time this goes up, you can close the game (it saves), open the file in Notepad++, and reset hunger to 0.
**Will**: When it goes down, close, edit, reset to full if desired.
Next to Will are **damage values**. Damaged? Close, edit, set to 0. Now you're healed.
**Humanity**: Increase, decrease, go nuts.
**Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, Charisma, Manipulation, Composure, Intelligence, Wits, Resolve:** If you feel like playing with God Mode on, set these to 99 or 100. If you want to see the text for failing checks, you can set them to 1. If there is a skill check that passes on X or higher, 99 likely exceeds X, and 1 likely does not. Some games have choices that pass or fail regardless of values, occasionally resulting in death, so keep this in mind if the game gives you choices like punching powerful people in the face, or jumping into a woodchipper. In situations like those, it might not be a skillcheck.
**Personality values** are a bit different. If you set **Ruthless** to 99, it sets **Cordial** to 1. If you set Ruthless to 1, it sets Cordial to 99. It's like squeezing a balloon on one end and seeing the other end stretch out. **Subversive** and **Loyal** are tied in the same way.
There are a bunch of **vampire disciplines** like **obfuscate, potence**, etc., and they have a value of true or false. True means you know it, false means you don't. Want to learn it? Set the value to true. This is sometimes risky in games, specifically ones where you have an obstacle and are presented with choices based on the powers you have. If you have every power, the game might try to give you every choice all at once, and sometimes that bugs things out. If you want to unlearn a power, set it back to false.
**Corliss, Lucca, Jordan, Jordan_rel, Gerard, Trevor, Alisha, Bouchard, Ophelia, Vivian, Kashif, Qui, Qui_rel, Ward, Adeline, Lang, Sevinc, Arundel, Tremere**: These numbers are how people see you, and the values with _rel at the end are (I assume) romanceable characters with values assigned to their romance progress. If you want to be popular, crank non-_rel values up to 99 or 100. These values are usually dynamic and will increase or decrease based on your actions, so you may want to edit frequently to keep them up.
All _rel values start at 0. I wouldn't recommend altering these at first, because I don't know how romantic relationships are treated in this game yet. If you edit one to max without going through the normal steps to initiate the romance, there might be some switch that doesn't get flipped properly. If I had to guess, that switch would change this value ""current_relationship1":"nil", with nil becoming the name of your romance choice. I only see one field like that, so having multiple _rel values edited to max might also mess with things.
Or it could do nothing.
There are also other values later on in the string that do things, but I'm tired and don't feel like looking for them at the moment. Maybe later, maybe not.
HOW TO MANUALLY SAVE
The save file is in C:\Steam\userdata\your id (it won't actually say "your id", it'll be your personal number)\1266100
Copy the "Remote" folder and stick it on your desktop. This is a manual save. To load the save data you backed up on your desktop, delete the "Remote" folder in 1266100, copy/paste your desktop save into the empty spot you just left, and launch the game.
This method works on all games that use the same engine, including the other two Vampire titles, Vampire the Masquerade: Night Road, and Vampire the Masquerade: Out For Blood. Their IDs are 1290270 and 1290350. It also works on text games that are not part of the Vampire brand, such as Neighbourhood Necromancer (633580) and Werewolves: Haven Rising (885120).
To find the ID of a Steam game, rightclick its desktop shortcut and select "Properties". It'll be the number in the field named "URL".
Enjoy!
