can literally find no information on the internet or on this forum - just purchased after 7 hours into demo. Classic or Normal? I just want to see the differences (no spoilers) I enjoyed the challenge in the demo if that helps but was not there at the beg
i am completely enraptured by this game and wrote it down on post it notes for all my coworkers. they should be buying it soon so we can all talk about it after work. thanks for this experience Bellular Studios.

spent 7 hours in the demo, am playing on Steam Deck - selecting Import Saves said no demo save availible, that I don't mind since I'm just going to re-make the campaign.

It is asking Classic or Normal but I was not there at the beginning of Alpha stage to know the difficulty back then. Is there a list that tells me the differences without spoiling ANYTHING >
If I enjoyed the little difficulty present in managing my crew in the demo, do I select Normal? The demo was 1.4.02 or 00 I can't remember (latest as of a week ago) so what difficulty is that, Normal?

thank you for the input since I only got a few hours a day where I can sit down and relax, as I work in a warehouse all day, I am just gonna start it on " Normal " and play for tonight, and read this topic to see if it has any replies tomorrow on my break at work. And if I should have chosen Classic from the information you post , I will just remake the campaign.

Thank you, absolutely enthralled by this game. just started a week ago and purchased the full retail game today on payday so had no idea what the classic difficulty balanced entailed.

Hey, thanks for playing, glad your enjoying the experience so far.
For your first time we'd generally recommend normal over classic.
The main differences are some key item balancing, and specifically how they affect the number of available med slots, as well as there being a loyalty penalty with Hammond and Junior for selecting 0 rations for fuel and food, respectively.

Thank you! Normal it is then. Appreciate the reply, will continue playing (On Week 4 on the full Game, was 7 on demo) on Normal and not re-make campaign. Have an awesome day and appreciate the personal reply!

Hi, first of all, thanks for replying here on the forums. As i didn't play the beta and want to start a new game, my question about the difficulty is: Is classic easier then normal?
Most of the time in games, the most left choice is the easiest, but here i'm not sure if that is the case as well, or if classic is harder? Or in other words: Which mode is harder then the other?
Many thanks for the help!

Normal is designed to be more fair, Classic can be harder or easier depending on perk selection in the early game, and is generally less evenly balanced

I had the same question when I started. “Classic” makes no sense to a new player. IIRC it’s to the left so it’s logically easier (since the hardest is on the right).

Yeah just got game had same question and wonder why its on the left as usually that means easier difficulty

Classic is the original (and less fair balancing), that was leading to players either having runs that were too difficult, whereas normal and hard follow the newer balancing rules.

Hey, just started this game a few days ago on the Steam Deck and I have failed after 17-18 days.

Classic being on the left of normal makes it seem like an easier difficulty, there was no indication that it was actually a harder difficulty with harsher balancing. Which I knew this before I stared my playthrough. Shame.

Now I’m stuck playing the game on a harder difficulty the first time through.

You guys should make this much clearer.

It should be better telegraphed. Class is both harder and easier/more exploitable than the normal balancing, mostly due to the balancing of perks in the opening act1

We'll take a note of this for a planned future update

Was Classic the original normal difficuilty?

oh it literally says so in the game. Yeah I remember the launch having some weird balancing and a little exploit at the start. Damn mustve missed that somehow
