Probably a dumb question
But do you play this game before or after Life is Strange?

Yes.

The bonus episode shouldn't be played before Life Is Strange, but the three episodes of the main game can be played before or after.

It's basically a prologue minus the bonus episode, i played this before the original and i wish i had done it the other way around. :lisr_max_frustrated:

I've seen a number of people complaining about knowing too much about where BtS is headed from having played the original game first. I get the idea that it's basically a trade-off either way - playing the prequel first means you don't already know the characters that appear in the base game, and there can be a bit of a wobble going from where you leave things with certain characters at the end of the prequel to where they start out the original game, particularly if you have a range of options for how their relationship with Chloe develops over the course of the prequel, and pick options that move away from the original's canonical version. On the other hand, playing the original game first means that many of the characters present have known destinies waiting for them just a couple of years away, which can expose the truth behind the game's illusions of choice, and make some decisions feel somewhat pointless...

i honestly think that the bonus episode should be played before starting before the storm. i get it might be considered as spolier for life is strange, but to me having a contextualization helps into understanding the emotional part of the narrative.

Since I played LiS in the order it was released, I can't judge how it would affect a new player if you played it chronologically correctly.

The bonus episode Farewell would probably be boring because you don't know the characters and not much exciting happens. But as others have already mentioned, you can then make unbiased decisions in BtS without knowing whether they fit the story of LiS.

In LiS you can then (perhaps) better understand Chloe's appearance.
