I've bought Nascar Heat 5, because it has more players according to steamdb.
But i haven't played it yet.

I just checked some older reviews and lot of them said that 5 has lot of bugs and grammar mistakes. Have they been fixed?

I tried to search the updates log for 5 but didn't find any. Devs never made them public?

5 is the best game to play, it has some minor improvements over 4 but they are minor, except for the wheel support - that's much better in 5

In my opinion, NASCAR Heat 5 is better. It has the newer cars and it doesn't have the monster energy cup series logo on the cars.Also you can add mods but I don't know how to.

On 5, you can turn off the wonky rival mechanic in career mode. On 4, you are stuck with it. With the mechanic on, if you hit another driver once or twice, they will become your bitter rival for life and try to bomb you every race. Maybe if you are extremely good at driving your car and never hit anyone on accident, it is a nice mechanic, but with me and a xbox controller, it isn't a good feature.

Besides that, the games are almost the same in my limited experience with 5.

I have both. They are not the same but they are close. 5 has a little better visuals, all the classes are {initially} really slow until you keep playing and they get better. 4 got better and now my truck and infinity car are unstoppable. The cup car is getting there also. So, if I had to pick, whichever is cheapest. But, as a former racer in my younger years, I have and play both. Why the heck not.

This is an intresting quetion because I think heat 4 is a lot better but heat 5 was a copy and paste of heat 4 with updated drivers and tracks. The only reason i would go for heat 5 is because you might find someone online from time to time and have online races.

Nascar heat 5 in my opinion is better as it has more options compared to 4 and is more up to date, AI seems to be better and smoke visual effects from burning tires were added in 5, smoke effects also when puncture or the engine explodes and also one more camera has been added, a terminal damage option has also been put. From what I've noticed these are the most relevant things that have changed from 5 to 4. There are more AI options as well that have been added for those who like to customize AI in many different ways. I like to put in an AI that simulates reality more, including imperfect AI that can have more accidents, change your path and distance on the track with more overtaking and support from your team, because perfect AI in a straight line is not realistic with real life . This is for use in singleplayer or multiplayer.
