What does "Discard a Card" mean?

I am currently experimenting the "Clear the Deck" card. It says that the character will have a damage modifier every time a card is discarded.

After using the card, I tried USING cards and ENDING a turn with cards left, but my damage remained the same.

Am I misunderstanding the card description? Is the card bugged?

Discarding is when a card get's removed from your hand without playing it. Usually because
you played a different card that has "discard a card" in it's effect

E.g.
Panic Move discards 1 random card from your hand when you play it
Bonus Move discards itself if you don't play it as your first move
Redraw discards your whole hand then draws more cards

Unfortunately, there are so few discard and draw cards that trying to build around it as your main gimmick isn't feasible.
