- do I have to ENABLE Anti-Aliasing in the menu to have DLSS enabled ?
- does enabling anti-aliasing / DLSS (DLAA?) improve visuals on an RTX card (1) -OR
as described in your Hubris version 2 notes - does it always decrease visual quality and should I leave anti-aliasing off. I tried both AA on and off but did not notice much of a difference.
Thanks for this greatly enhanced version 2.
I personally would like to have the option to enable or disable DLSS instead of beeing forced to use it.
Also, still not sure what the developer refers to when he says you can turn TAAU off? I don't see this option. Maybe it refers to one or two of the other graphics options?
One complaint I have is that when you are close to facing the sun there is a lot more glare. This is a bit annoying and turning Bloom on/off does not seem to make any difference.
The bullet tracers are a nice touch but I think they have a bit too much long trailing tails. I really like the new reload option. Much better than needing to hold the gun upwards, which often seemed to take different amount of time to fully reload.
As an aside, since this game is OpenXR compliant, you can use the OpenXR toolkit. I've tried it and it seems to work ok. Plus you can call up the FPS in order to help monitor your performance vs graphics settings.
Overall, a very nice update but I think I'll wait for a hotfix or two before enjoying a replay on this great game. Cheers.
we are investigating this issue right now, because we got plenty of reports that it is correctly working, we are trying to find out why and how it could not work on some devices or why some of the files are not correctly being sent over.
so we just found out something went wrong with the published build which disabled dlss, the incoming patch that will be here later today will address this.
There is an option in advanced graphics options to disable dlss if you would like to.
Kind regards,
Koen
Very nice! I already thought something like that might have happened.
Also DLAA would be helpful. Any plans to add DLAA? As far as I know, if the game already has DLSS, then adding DLAA costs almost nothing in terms of complexity of the task.
I don't think that DLAA (essentially DLSS without the image upscaling) is as good as DLSS. At least it doesn't seem useful in sims like msfs, for me anyway. I prefer to use DLSS but maybe more of a personal preference thing.
Edit; Just tried the new DLSS and this really makes the game play and look fantastic. I'd guestimate that the DLSS is in Quality mode because the clarity is sooo good. With my rtx4090 I can add some extra super sampling but I don't think that this is necessary.
People in the Steam Kayak VR forum reported that increasing that 'Pixel Density' option does make a difference and I tried it at 200 %, but my FPS dropped below playable at highest settings.
:-)
With Hubris I'm finding adding 1.2x SS on top of DLSS with my QPro also helps a little but much higher I start to get stutters. Likewise with my VP1 200% visuals on top of DLSS helps a bit but much higher I start to get stutters. TBH, even without any SS Hubris with DLSS looks better than ever!
When developers utilise DLSS correctly, like it seems they have, Nvidia also seems to be improving DLSS on all rtx3000/4000 series gpu's with every update.
What !??? You have a 4090, the fastest consumer GFX card in the world, and you can still get stuttering ???
Anyway, I would love to drop a 4090 in my rig.
18 months ago I paid 1200 EURO / 1250 USD for an RTX 3070. For that same price I could, today, easily buy an RTX 4080 !
Although maybe not always necessary, I use DDU in safe mode (google how to do this) to properly uninstall previous drivers and to also stop win10/11 from auto updating gpu drivers. I also use DDU if I need to rollback drivers (haven't needed to do that for a while, touch wood).
Prices in Australia for GPU's have improved a bit. Today you can buy a new rtx4090 for a little less than what I paid for my rtx3090 +3.5 years ago, lol! Maybe because currently there isn't as much crypto mining demand.
