Price have actually dropped a bit lately (much more sensibly priced now imho). Also I think it's lower than HL:A's release price, or maybe about the same? Yeah I noticed they really upped their price, and not by a small amount. That's a shame!
If you want something almost as good - even better in some aspects - get this!
I don't know about the length though (haven't finished it yet). I suspect it's somewhat shorter. But idk. A bit more demanding on hardware than HLA so that might be something to keep in mind.
EDIT: Unless you're haunted by the openXR bug loosing controller tracking... Using Virtual Desktop avoids that (but I guess is more demanding on the system, in this case. Usually VD works better. Ymmw?). I'd still say it's worth it.
Only issue so far is some cliff grabbing / Ladder grabbing issues, and the graphics (unreal engine TSAA) are super blurry due to the antialiasing used.
Hi Biscuit,
Make sure to up the resolution slider in graphics settings if it is to blurry for you.
If that does not work in advanced graphics options in our game you can turn off TAAU completely, but this is a lot heavier and also requires your PC to super sample a lot in Steam VR itself, but it might work out better for you.
kind regards,
Koen
If you play on a Steam headset you can supper sample in the steam settings.
Not ure of Quest has a comoarable feature though.
either open Oculus Debug Tool and set "Pixels Per Display Override" higher than 1, if setting above is already maxed out. But I'm not sure there's a videocard in the world that capable of supersempling native Quest 2's render resolution (5408x2736) in graphic-heavy game :D
To me It's definitively "worth it" now! ;)
Glad you like it, if you are happy with the direction we took and want to support us make sure to leave an upvote on our game as it really helps us as a developer a lot! :)
Kind regards,
Koen
I'll try that. The problem is Unreal Engine games are always a little blurrier than other engines :( even after anti aliasing / sharpening / etc changes. And if not blurry, just jaggy. I'm assuming this is UE's deferred rendering engine?
Thanks for the tips, I use a 4090+i9 so hopefully it'll work out
Well we are not HL thats quite simple. but we dont pretend to be either, our team is like 5 times smaller then the team that worked on HL xD
I asume the comparison is mostly there because we are one of the few single player adventure games that aimed on high end graphics and had cut scenes?
Don't get me wrong. Your game is good and it's quite honorable what you few people created, but other users compare it to HLA and some people say that it's as good as HLA and that is simple not true. Of course Valve is a AAA producer and has much more resources to create games so thats not meant offensive against you.
I personally don't get why HLA is so overhyped. Don't get me wrong, that's a really good game with stunning visuals, ok physics, good story, very polished and detail maps with most objects interactible, but there's quite many minuses, like awful movement, 0 freedom (you can't move there, you can't do here. Just move by the rail and solve puzzles exactly as intended), not best fighting, ladders are always auto-up and many VR-begginers-intended things that breaks the immersion. You're overestimating HLA. It's not the only gold VR game here (it's not gold IMO, honestly), and it's not even the game I most liked. And I don't consider it as a "best VR game ever" too (despite the fact that I'm a fan of Valve and can get anyone's "Valve did a thing OMG, it's best thing ever, you can't compare anything to Valve's thing, it's a masterpiece, Vaaaaaalve!!"). Asguard Wrath even feels more AAA than HLA, since it have more mechanics, longer plot and playtime overall.
