Is AI enemy's great or are they dumby-dumb ? ( Do they look for you when you're hidden after beeing alerted, Do they see you / hear you if you walk past them etc.. )
Go for it blindly !!! Both Styx games are amazing if you love stealth.
Thanks for the recommendations, I did just that and had a bit of fun (jumped right into mission 1). It's not the best game I ever played, I prefer 3rd person stealth (Styx, Hitman, Splinter Cell etc) to games like Thief/Dishonored, but it was definitely fun, especially for a free game.
I found plague tale pretty boring after a while.
The mechanics were more or less the exact same thorughout both games with minor increments. Despite the game looking great and it having some pretty decent story telling to carrry it.... the overall gameplay was rather bland.
Just an opinion though and i know its one that goes against the main trend
Heheh nice.
I loved those games back in the day and was happy to replay the second one more recently on the steam deck where it runs incredibly well.
styx is worth the money, even if it's a slightly older title and older engine, it runs great and the stealth mechanics are far better than this game, like i saw a dude on youtube showing just how bad this game's stealth was and it was comically bad, the tailing missions remind you of older assassins creed games where you fail if you are too far away or behind and the distance doesn't really make sense, the AI is bad at searching for you lol.
just play styx for a good stealth title, it was created on a smaller budget sure, but it was made much better than this game, i think the only thing this game has going for it at this point is the engine and visuals, but styx doesn't look that much different for an older low budget game, which tells you something about this game more than you know lol.
just play styx. you can get both the first game and the second game for $20 each, which both have good length per game and very challenging good story and pretty damn good stealth mechanics, it's not the best, but it's still worth playing over this title right now.
Master of Shadows was mediocre, the level design was very linear and the levels were needlessly big just to collect 40!!!! collectibles to create the illusion of openness. Shards of Darkness is in a completely different league and doesn't deserve to be lumped in with the first title. It has the most open-ended stealth I've ever seen for pure stealth games and you're always left with tons of options to tackle the missions. I actually preferred it to SC:Blacklist, and I thoroughly enjoyed that game too.
splinter cell blacklist is also a great stealth game, but the reason why i bring up Styx is because it's a similear game, but also because it's far better than the alternative, splinter cell will always be better stealth title, especailly if you play any of their older games and same with thief.
the point is, if a slightly older low budget game such as styx plays and looks better than Gollum, it's worth the money in playing that instead of Gollum, maybe in the future they will fix all the issues in gollum and the game will be better received, but for now i'm letting everyone know there is a better slightly older alternative out there that everyone could try right now, and at the fraction of the overall cost of this game as they are selling each game for only $20 each.
that doesn't even add up to this games price when put together, so why not play styx instead, i know styx isn't a perfect game, but if it runs better and people want their fix on a stealth game that is somewhat similar, then i say go for it.
