Chapter 2 - Stuck in mineshaft

So I'm at the part where I have to drop a red stone into a barrel and blow it up, then climb out of the mineshaft before the smoke kills me. Problem is, the game suddenly isn't letting me jump? Like I can only climb the very bottom portion of the climbable wall and can't reach the higher levels. I've tried reloading my checkpoint as well as the whole game and Gollum still forgot how to use his legs. Did anyone else run into this issue, or should I stop giving this game a chance and cut my losses? I have almost 6 hours clocked in already but I've heard that Steam isn't exactly strict about the 2 hour thing. Should I try refunding if I can't find a fix?

tbh i am currently stuck with chapter 2 and i have no capability to continue the gameplay with the buttons control for keyboard/mouse/controller within PC/CONSOLE that seems to malfunction and state that key is blocked and cannot continue the chapter because of this i am at the point where gullom is supposedly to be hiding in a box of some sort but upon numeous attempts i cannot get in the box because it states that its blocked.

If people still have game breaking bugs after the "patch" this game should be removed from steam.
