Samantha problem/bug - Unable to meet Emma

I started a new playthrough last week for several reasons, one of which was that I missed Emma in my prior save. But I seem to have run into a weird situation with Samantha...

I've been using the wiki to navigate Sam's wedding and up until her wedding had never dated nor even kissed her (let alone had sex), yet once the wedding's over, entering the mall during the day results in Sam and Ryan approaching me with a baby carriage, the implication being it's my child.

I tried sidestepping this by avoiding the mall and progressing Sam's story (Path D in the wiki), but I'm to the point now where I need to go to the mall to be introduced to Emma in the mall's coffee shop, and the baby scene is still triggered when I enter the mall. I feel like there's very little chance I did anything wrong along the way, as I was very careful. This seems like a game-breaking (or at least story-breaking) bug to me. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on where I might have gone wrong, or how to work around this?
