Games like this?
I have over 500 hours in Slipstream and am still going strong. Slipstream ticks all my gaming boxes : it's strategic, there's lots of way to play thanks to the tech tree and I can play a match in 45 minutes. Has anyone found something similar that they would suggest?

I like Slipways ("Slipstream", lol), too. Found it a tad too rng-dependent though (which might be a skill issue).

"Monster Train" felt quite similar to me. It is a very different game (deck-building) but with the same puzzle-like feel to it, lots of different strategic and tactical approaches and a big rng factor as well.

Anothe game that comes to mind, which is more similar to Slipways mechanical-wise, is "Terraformers".

TerraScape might fit the bill - sort off - (deck building).

Thanks for the replies! I just picked both of those up on the Autumn sale so we'll see how they work.

If you haven't already played it I highly recommend Slay The Spire. Very strategic, each run is unique. People put thousands of hours into it and if you don't take too much time you can finish a run in under an hour.

Slay The Spire? What's that? Oh right, one of the few games that's taken more time out of my life than Slipways. :) Not arguing though, it's similar to Slipways in that there's a lot of depth to it and it's done within a relatively short amount of time.

Glad I found this thread because TerraScape looks great. I'd also highly recommend Terraformers, it's a card-based Mars terraforming strategy game. About the same level of RNG as Slipways, but a lot more predictable once you've played a few dozen games. The DLCs are all fantastic in my opinion.

AI War 2, very strategic game against the AI - many ways to play , many ways to lose

AI War is an impossibly complicated anthill RTS, not a puzzler at all? Or am I not getting it?

Also thanks to everybody for recommending Terraformers, I really like this one.

Huge fan of Slipways here, this game is close to perfection. Another gem is Through the Ages + its extension: a great digital versionof one of the best boardgame of all times. I have hundreds of hours trying to beat the challenges, and hundred more in PvP. Each turn is interesting to play, the game is very well balanced (they have used the digital alpha version to balance the extension with hundreds of players).

Definitely a great game (IMO)! Also pretty different mechanical-wise, it has that puzzle-feel to it for sure. I'd like to add that TTA has the best bots I've ever played against in any game. And unlike Civ et al, these bots dont get any boni but are and stay still fairly challenging.
