I really hope so, as they said it couldn't be done with their last one "but hopefully in the near future".
Also mentioned in another thread on this game board, that they are thinking about it.

We aim to do multiplayer sometime in the future, but not sure if we can do it with FNA due to the huge map, but we'll see ;)

MP is exactly what this game and Barents needs. Both competing boats and being able to man positions in coop mode instead of AI.

What's about co-op when the players are parts of the same crew? Thus the map issue won't be a problem.

if this was MP the sales would be alot HIGHER :-) co-op i mean + walk around small town buy your food to cook for at sea etc

your sales would almost quad if it had multiplayer that's one reason me and my friends wont buy cause no MP.

ok so why dont u and ur friends make a MP game and see how that turns out remember this team arent massive like EA and they are self publishing

Co-op would work. You could "hire" (invite) your friends in to your game to work on your boat as a crew member. They don't have to have their own boat, they just join yours, or you join their game as a crew member on their boat. You get a cut of the profits that persist when you go back to your own game.

I think people are asking for Dedicated server that they could invite friend to work on their boats rather than just a mass off people on one map. Like instead of hiring a worker i could invite my friend hot help instead

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS...MP WILL RUIN YOUR BEAUTIFUL GAME WHY DOES EVRYBODY THINK ALL GAMES HAVE TO BE MP
