What does the start options mean?

When you start a new career, you can disable and enable certain game features in-game. You can also turn these options on/off through the Main Menu -> Option -> Game.

These are the options and what the do:

Fast travel = Turns on/off the ability to use fast travel
Fish gear helper = Turns on/off the fish guidelines when picking up fishing gear
Port patrol = Turns on/off port patrol. Around ports there is a 6 knots speed limit. When this feature is on, you will get a $300 fine if you drive too fast within the port area.

The circle around the bouy on the map will be different colours for different times to haul the gear. Blue is optimal haul, green is good, red is little or nothing to haul.

It helps you to know when you're in The zone to being able to pick up gear. It'll show up as a half circle in The water when you're nearing a bouy.
