Fish Gear Helper and Port Patrol

At the start of the game, I'm given options to enable fish gear helper and port patrol. Yet I cannot find any information on what those do. Would anyone have any ideas?

I dont know about the first, but the second, the port patrol, enforces the speed limits arounds ports. If you go over the alloted speed limit you are automatically fined after a warning. I turned it off as it was annoying because your speed can fluctuate a lot due to wave action.

Where do you turn it off from, I cannot see it in the settings now though I did tick the box for port patrol on starting the game. Like you say it is impossible not to speed as the wave motion increases the speed both up and down.

Fish gear helper puts a red ring off the side of your boat that turns green when the buoy is in the haul area so your gear can be hauled.
Port patrol as said means you need to keep to port speed limit 6 knots or get a fine.

I understand that and I like the red ring of the fish gear helper but the constant fines as it is impossible to keep the vessel going under 6 knots are irritating and I wondered if there is a way to switch it off again without starting a new game?.

I think it depends on your difficulty but there should be an option in one of the menu tabs to turn them on or off
