"froth" or "foam" texture on the water, since last update
i allready wrote about this issue in another post, but thread got mixed up with other peoples graphic bugs.

if you dont have the same bug, please dont post your own graphic bugs here, because devs might get confused on wich one to answer. i would like to find a solution for this particular thing. thx.

the water has a texture all over it. it looks like the occasional sea foam or froth,(edit: or rather sea ooze, mud) but its all over it. it is not animated, just a still texture (waves are there but the marine blue is now a muddy soup). if i lower some graphic options, it of course disasapears, but thats no fix. I have this issue since the March update i think. yesterday i reinstalled the game and checked my graphic drivers(they where up to date). i have an AMD radeon r9 200.

EDIT:

Directx 12
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 920@ 2.67Ghz (8 cpu s) 2.66Ghz
Ram 6 GB
Processor clock: ?
Windows 10 64 bit
GPU AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

And again, we will ask you what is your PC specifications? You didn't answered that question previously. You are mentionning your GPU but games do not relies only GPU, how many rams do you have?
What CPU and how many cores do you have? Do you use windows 10?

We can't help you and give you hints if we do not have this informations.

I do not have this issue at all and mine is this:
Directx12
CPU Type - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Processor Clock 1380 MHz
Win10 64 bit
MSI Graphic Radeon RX 580 Series 8GB GDDR5
Ram 16 GB

ok. i edited the orig. post. thx

You can play this game with your system but you definately need to drop graphics, antialiasing, etc... You should also expect a bad performance.
The cause is not the game unfortunately for you.

You only have 6 GB of rams. Today, games standard is 8 GB.
Days when 4GB of RAM was the standard for gaming are gone.

https://www.wepc.com/how-much-ram-you-need-for-gaming/

Now, if you look at the requirements of the current game, Fisfing North Atlantic is recommended 8 GB. Yes, you are above the 4 GB minimum required by the game but do not expect full graphics and full effects.

Regarding your CPU system, it is really aged and below the Quad-Core Processor with 3 GHz or better recommended by this game. You only have 2.67Ghz.
Takes note by the way that many new games may have issues with it. Your CPU is 13 years old. IT technology progresses in months... 13 years for a computer, it's a light year. New released hardwares may have also issues with this CPU.

Sorry, your system is just too old and your ram is insufficient my friend. You have to upgrade.

it does not explain the sudden texture issue that i have since the last update. i play this game since its release and the performance is ok if i lower some of the settings. i can play with full water reflections. game does not lag. everything was fine till the last update or maybe the one before that.

Ok... You really don't understand how it works...
Yes! All what I said explains clearly all the issues you have with this game.

When Dev is releasing a new game patch or a new update, new contents with graphics effects, features, lightings... whatever, all may become more demanding on the system requirements.
If the game is evolving... more ressources can be needed to run the game. It's simply logical. From start, your system is already under the game requirements. So far, you can play the game with your PC but if futures updates add or are changing things, the game requirements will going up or going down depending of what Dev is doing.
I already told you that you should expect bad performance with your system. More time goes, your PC won't becomes better.
Your system is what it is... old.

I told you twice, I do not have this issue with the game. Not at all. Graphically the game is beautiful with zero lag. All video options are at 100% for me.

It's on your hand. If this problem or this bug really comes from the game as you say it would not make the difference between my PC and yours, it would be the same for everyone. It would be the same for anyone who plays this game. And obviosuly, that 's not the case.

And I'll even add, it's not Dev or Steam's fault that your PC doesn't run the game well. As a customer it's your responsibility to make sure your PC can run the game before you buy it. That's why these requirements informations for games are existing.

♥♥♥♥ off
Zongo Apr 28, 2021 @ 2:52pm
ok..you really dont know how to not be a ♥♥♥♥
who talks about fault? i just want to know what the problem might be. and as i said. the game runs well enough. its mere speculation to say my specs are to blame for the texture issue....maybe not . but you can shove your arrogant"i told you twice" talk up your ars. go away please... if you are not willing to explain your arrogant view in the first place, then dont even comment.

often enough there are bugs that happen only with certain graphic cards and so on, so how should i know.
Zongo Apr 29, 2021 @ 12:05am
thx. yes i already adjusted the settings. i can of course lower the "effects quality"settings to a degree where i dont see the broken texture, but then the water does not look good. it was working before...so i am not really convinced my specs are to blame.
Zongo Apr 29, 2021 @ 12:11am
It does not even look broken. more like there is some substance under the watersurface.
like sea ooze, mud ect. but its every where i go, not just in port, so its clearly an error of some sort.

WTF? First off, some shimmering water texture on top of the entire ocean does not qualify as evolving graphics. This should not effect it's game play. We are here to catch fish! My 13 year old computer handles the new water texture just fine and it just might be AMD issue. I do not want the new water texture if it means someone else has to buy a new video card just to play the game. I don't like the new texture, it doesn't look real. It makes me feel like I'm in a swamp or in the finger lakes after they cut the algae. Oceans plays with colors and waves and not floating crap on the surface. I can't believe you lectured this person on game requirements over a crappy water texture! They were enjoying this game before and some Dev said lets add this wavy line texture and code to make it move in a different direction to make it look real. Under no circumstances should this texture upgrade require you to upgrade your computer!
Zongo Apr 29, 2021 @ 10:16am
yeah sure, but maybe its just some little detail that needs attention. who knows. because all was fine before some update. i didnt play for 2 moths or so. maybe with the next update it will become clearer whats going on there.

but its just a bit too simple to just blame it on the hardware. it has worked before, so it would be interessting what they changed in the waterdepartment. its not really comprehensible without knowing what they did.

Its no point bashing anyone here! But we updated to a new version of the watershader we use, mostly to gain better performance as the previous version was very demanding. We're looking into improving the visuals, but this takes some time. So please be a bit patient and we hopefully have something that will look nicer down the road.
