Moby D Ship trying to control the ship is impossible
The ship drifts like if you're on an ice skating rink
it's impossible to pick up the lines and nets
it's frustration and infuriating.

Yeah I already have a post about the lack of manuvarability of the Moby D and the Vibeke Cathrin. Not sure if all of the old ships from FBS are broken I have not had them all yet but right now they are 2 for 2 broken. Oh and their quotas are silly low, compare the 73 foot 1 mil+ dollar Moby D to the 45 foot 300k Lenore with a third the crew has dramaticly higher quotas including the high doillar harviests; swordfish, tuna, and lobster.

it s probably all wrong, the propeller is out of water most of time, and things goes backward for no reason

I ended up selling the Moby D, it was just too frustrating to get it into position to haul a line with. If I remember correctly there are no side thrusters for it, that would help a bit.

Nearly all the big ships on the controls are really bad
in the very first game the big ships were ok

that seems to be a problem for a lot of ships in this game, they ride too high in the water
I loved the Moby D but if you didn't approach your gear perfectly, I often had to try a few times to catch it. Not to mention, if the seas are rough, you'll never get it next to the pier with just fast traveling.

I've found it hard to line most ships up once you get past the starter ships, unless you come in slowly but fast enough to maintain steerage way, and who wants to play realistically ? I generally end up deliberately stopping after the bouy and reversing onto it, the ships are all far more responsive when going backwards.

Not all big ships are bad I am rocking the Arctic Pioneer right now and that is a 150ft ship. It is all of the ships ported from FBS that cannot turn. The Moby D is probably the worst among them although the Follabuen is giving it a run for that title. That thing is so underpowered you would be faster throwing the engine out and rigging up a sail.

I'm still saving up for the Pioneer. Once I'd worked out how to back it on to bouts the only problem I have with the Moby D is that I can't get to the poop to prepare lines to go out, I have to rely on crew to prepare them.
The Moby D is supposed to be slow and have no thrusters since she is old, but her turning is completely broken. Ships respond faster to the helm forwards rather than backwards, the more water traveling over the rudder, the more effective it is. The way she turns while making way forwards is also very strange, it's like she is drifting sideways. Her physics need to be looked at for sure. Until she is fixed I'll be skipping her and going for something else.

when I had the Moby, it was on the standard. I've since moved to beta but haven't bought the ship back. And yes, I get rough seas a lot. Bad enough sometimes that my speedo would go from 6 knts, to 18, to 2, to 16, to 4, to 20 etc. with every swell.

I got a Pioneer and my only problem with it so far is that, when you turn at higher speeds, the thing looks like it's about to roll.

like those at the edge of the map? i hope such storms get into the game instead of little waves, clear sky and clipart rain.

This was pulling into Dennis I think. Not far off the coast.
