> well you dont need to get it 100% to catch fish, it shows that there is fish in the area, that should be good enough, if not you can turn your boat around  @Spidie#7014
@Disturbed#5288
if i spot a swordfish sailing at 5knots right below my boat, i drop the line and i get catch. from i spot to the line is in the water, the sonar ping has moved to about 25 meters behind my boat.
just dont sail 20 knots :)
Just might be an ideer to inc. this info in the wiki. So newcomers know how the sonar work. Seens there are so mush confusion as you say
Yes. What you see on sonar screen is the area behind you unless the vertical bar at the right side which represents your boat and where the sonar is located.
The sonar sends echoes and when these interact with a surface, echoes are sent back, It's like taking pictures. When it contacts a fish, the echo is sent back and it is shown at the vertical bar. This is the first picture.
Then a new echo is sent and the same process happens again. A new picture is created with what's below the boat (seabed, more fishes, whatever). The previous picture, in which the fish was contacted, now has been moved to the left a certain distance because it is no longer under your boat, it is already behind you. And the current picture you have taken with the sonar is located next to the vertical bar at your right side (this is what is below the boat now as we said).
So graphically:
Picture 1:
- - - - - - - - - - - FISH 1 (boat/sonar).
Picture 2:
- - - - - - - FISH 1- - - - - (boat/sonar)
Picture 3:
- - FISH 1- - - - - FISH 2 (boat/sonar)
Picture 4: (fish 1 is already far away behind you, not shown anymore).
- - - - - - -FISH 2- - - - - - (boat/sonar)
So now, if u make a montage of the pictures following the timeline you get what we see in the sonar screen, fishes and seabed moving from right (what's below u) to left (what's falling behind you). It's more or less like a CT Scan in medicine, series of single pictures taken at different timestamps which gives you an idea of the whole when displayed consecutively.
Hope it helps.
Dude i understand how it works but , why the Hell on this planet they dont do just a Simple Boat icon in the MIDDLE and thats it ? Who cares waht is behinde a boat? should i turn arround every single time? i mean okay whit fish its not that Big problem but whit lubster and crab`? no words ....the Designer of this Game got no Hearth for his Job by the way....horrble Ui Horrible lovelss icons....everything look love and heartles for me ...even the Old system in BSEA is bether than this...sry for my ♥♥♥♥♥ english
Because it does not matter where you locate the boat, the mechanism will be the same, fishes will always get behind you unless you completely stop the boat. So if you draw the boat in the middle of the sonar screen, you are losing an entire half.
lol no ? why should you lose something, if you see the fish before your ship ? and can drop everything exactly to there location dude sersly come on....
