Cannot find fish?
In Fishing: North Atlantic you need to use the sonar to find fish. You will need to travel around in real time, using your sonar to find good fishing spots. You can also ask for fish tips at the bar in port, or go to areas with AI boats, as they fish around fishing spots as well. There is also seagulls flying over bigger habitats, which can easily be spotted using your binoculars.

NOTE: If you use fast travel, the sonar will not update as regulary as if you travel in real time.

is it me or even with the fish finder working that lobster and crab mech is still broken

I motored from Ingalls Head (top left) around the entire mainland mass staying in the middle blue areas and ended in Lockport (top right) without a single fish on the fish finder. It hasn't always been like this, I used to find plenty of fish. It wasn't until the last update that my fish sonar slowly started dwindling. I've since sailed from Lockport to the middle of the bottom of the map still with no fish on the sonar.

@uk_Jay Hm, what type of lines did you set?
@Redleader052 There should be lobster and crab to haul, did you set the gear in an area that you found crab or lobster?
@Sekkho Asmadi Fish migrate around the map, depends on what date you are at?

@woober yes the finder was full of them, waited a good time frame and only a few 1000kg out of 90 pots

@Woober that was the point I was trying to make, I motored in real time across the entire map from top left to top right, criss crossing the middle blue areas, and not a single fish of any kind showed on sonar. i ended the journey on halloween in both IRL and in game, that part was kind of funny.

the sonar shows fish but either you can hardly catch any or none at all.

@Woober I did another test tonight, after updating. I motored a distance of about 7 nautical miles across the middle blue region (on the narrow shelf) at the bottom of the map starting on the East end and going South/West. Not a single, and I do mean that literally, not a single fish on sonar period.

I understand fish move around. But I have now criss-crossed the ENTIRE map over the course of three nights... NO fish on the sonar... literally zero.

I do believe that there are fish out there, I just think that the sonar for whatever reason completely stopped showing anything. My next test will be to throw random lines in areas that show zero fish in areas that "should" have habitats and see what happens.

Yep hauling pots you are never excited as you know it's going to be low kg. I've seen 1200lb pot once

Don't know if this helps, but i think there is both an "overfishing" mechanic (fish too much in one place and the fish populations crash)
and a "migration" mechanic (fish move around from place to place over time) as well as a "predator fish" mechanic (predator fish like swordfish/tuna scare away other fish)
the sonar and radar are WAY more important now, ALWAYS max out your sonar AND radar
as these are one of the only ways to find fish, also, before i forget, ALWAYS max out your binoculars because you use them to look for A. AI boats(ai boats hang out around fish hotspots and also show up on radar if it is a good enough model of radar)
B. look for seagulls(seagulls hang out over good fishing grounds)
also, certain fish species will be more plentiful during certain times of the year.
EXAMPLE: IRL lobster will usually only enter traps during molting(shell shedding)season
because they are defenseless and are looking for a place to hide until their new shell hardens.
