Easter Egg false beard and the dwarf in Ducal Citadel

I don't have access to the part of Ardo's Residence which holds Easter Egg items but can get a quest with beardless guy hiding in the barrel. I'm wondering whether you can use the item not primarily intended to accomplish the task. I'll have to postpone this quest to satisfy my curiosity unless anyone tried it and can confirm that the idea won't work.

Never tried it in all by play-thoughs as I was just doing it for the xp. Good question.

Yes, those items you get come out in Chapter 5 and the quest you mentioned opens up in Chapter 3. Also, you probably shouldn't talk to him at all, otherwise the dog might attack you as you walk by that area.

That's what I actually did - ignored the quest entirely and went to fetch all treasures of Moorbridge Marshes first.
