Drakensang

Updated to windows 10, can't even start the game. Anyone else having issues?
Hey guys, everytime I try and start this game it tries to load (black screen) and then crashes and produces this error message:

nStream::Close(): Failed to write file 'user:Drakensang/profiles/default/profile.xml

I have scoured the internet looking for solutions, uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted appcache, deleted profile.xml, along with a couple other things and nothing has worked. I really want to play this game. It worked fine for me before updating to windows 10. Help! And thank you.

Are you already "running as administrator"? if not, that could be your problem. I just upgraded to 10 too, and had to not only set that up again in the compatibility settings, but also put -windowed and -noborder into the launch parameters (and alt+enter to get back to fullscreen). However, I run an ENB with the game too, so that might ahve been my problem.

Yeah, I am running as admin. It acts a little different - the black screen stays up and it changes to the Drakensang cursor, but nothing ever happens and there is no sound, so I'm forced to close out of it. My mouse moves around still, but is only visible on the outside border of the screen and disappears in the middle.

Update! I put -windowed and -noborder into the launch parameters, and it launched and actually started the cutscene! Now to just figure out how to put it into fullscreen without it going black forever.

have you windows 10 32 Bit or 64 Bit?I have Windows 10 PRO 64 Bit and all 3 Drakensang Games but no one starts all have ERROR if I make in Windows 7 Mode as Admin and in start by Steam -windowed -noborder -nosound.The Thing is is Drakensang in 32 Bit and use 16 Bit too that were the ERROR in 64 Bit while 64 Bit can`t use 16 Bit.The Seller for this game must make a patch for this why she/he becomes the money for this and that not play Windows XP is dead!

I've got windows 10 64 bit. I had to do the -windowed and -noborder along with running as admin before it would work. Now it runs. But I agree it's super ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of them to only give support for the online game. Steam needs to update the support site.

1. Right click game in library, select "Propterties".
2. In the "General" tab, click "Set Launch Options".
3. Enter "-windowed -noborder" into the box.
4. Should be able to play now!

Worked for me, typed in -windowed noborder just like Kashna said and I am able to play now. Thanks Kashna. Any other tricks, like getting fullscreen with the top min/ max bar. I can live with it but I prefer to have it gone too?

If you want remove the border you can always use Borderless Gaming:

As already stated by Harbonah, alt+del should allow full screen
