You need to download the Windows ADK for Windows 10[developer.microsoft.com] and install it. (version 1703 is for the Creators Update)
then start "Compability Administrator 32 bit" program
Right Click on New Database(1) -> Rename it to "Drakensang"
Right Click on New Drakensang Database entry and choose Create New -> Aplication Fix...
Name of the programm to be fixed: -> "Drakensang"
Name of the vendor for this program: -> "Radon Labs"
Program file location: -> click on Browse... and choose the path of the Drakensang exe file.
click on next 2 times
under compability fixes select "ForceSimpleWindow"
click on Test Run... to check if the Game runns correct then end the Game.
click on next -> under Main Executable select "SIZE="
click on Finish
right click on Custom Databases -> Drakensang and choose install.
Drakensang now should work fullscreen again without errors.
This also applies to "Drakensang the River of Time".
Thank you for your help and to have solved this problem. For my part I had found another solution as well for DrakenSang 1 & 2 which no longer worked under version 1703 of Windows 10. Solution that consisted of launching the game with the following command line: -autoconfig -windowed -noborder, Then delete the file profile.xml in the Drakensang folder and finally download the Fullscreenizer software. Then just launch the game in windowed mode and launch Fullscreenizer to put the game in full screen ...
2) Press Alt+Enter (Window Mode, you should see the Intro)
3) Set in Settings your prefered resolution.
4) Press Alt+Enter to activate fullscreen
Next times it will be still necessary to press Alt+Enter to activate window mode and press Alt+Enter again to return to fullscreen.
Windows 10 Pro v1703 64-bit here with an i7-4770K, 16 GB and a GTX 1080 Ti.
This is why i posted this fix, because after the creators update it's the only thing that worked on my system(Win 10 64bit 1703) to run the game in fullscreen mode.
No problems with AA and i have activated AF 16x in my NVidia system settings for DSA:D
thx that's exactly what i needed to solve my problem.
now it runs. made the settings i needed, restarted it, and then just press STRG (or CTRL in english) and ENTER and then you have fullscreen again.
:)
Right click and go into properties.
Go to "set launch options" and paste this in there:
-d3d9 -windowed
