For a Game play stand point. River of Time is superior because those things most of us complain about in The Dark Eye were fixed in the River of Time.
- Fast Travel is introduced, both in the city and out in the wilderness so no running all the way back and forth.
- You can revisit zones after finishing the quests and leaving.
Story-wise: The Dark Eye was a standard 'You Are the Hero' story in spite of it starting out a murder mystery. River of Time is more a mystery political story with lot's of fighting.
I did find River of Time a bit more constricted on my choices. You don't get alot of companions like you do in The Dark Eye so it's harder to build your party the way you want, you do get a couple of choices but all in all you're going to play it the way the game wants.
They're both good, but for different reasons.
If you do get the River of Time, I'd recommend getting the DLC for it: Phileasson's Secret. It add's some extra quests inside River of Time, completely different story, but add's some enjoyable quests.
Story in DAO for me is pretty boring and uncreative. Its like eating meat with potatoes. But this game has so much flavor its like going to an indian restaurant and trying out something you never ate before. And I like it a lot.
The story was generic and boring but it had bigger areas I was impressed. It wasn't a bad rpg.
ok installing River of Time and the expansion.
Its not bad but 1st I hate prequels, 2nd the political plot is boring and 3rd it doesnt make any sense that Forgrim doesnt remember any of these people in the first Drakensang.
only four hours in. Better so far then Darkensang. Though I liked those characters in Darkensang just not deep enough relationships for those characters.
I like what I am playing. Funny humor.
