The game Realms of Arkania is set in Adventuria like Drakensang and looks like Drakensang so .......

Still, there's hope. The Dark Eye tabletop games are quite popular in Germany. Moreso than DnD is over there. Hopefully, someone with some cahonas will make a new game. Fingers crossed, m8.
In the meantime, check out Elex. A new game coming out from PB. It has that same Eastern European flair as Gothic, Drakensang, Risen, Spellforce, etc. Something about the European developers that I just like their style and games. OH, I almost forgot. There is another Drakensang game called Demonicon. It's not as good as the Drakensang games themselves but is in the same universe. It's good. Not great.
@NamFam, added Realms of Armkania to my list to check out.
Agree, lacklustre, playable but not pretty and polished enough to become immersive by any means.
Have you got a link or a full name for Alex?
My expectations were raised so high after Drakensang. I can not go back to Baldurs Gate in all it's jaunty pixelated humourous glory now. Would love to find a group online ,of folk who love to play the good RPGs. If steam do not promote them, someone might be on another platform.
The same developer are doing a remake of star trail, which is a bit more polished.

Have you tried mods for Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2? Some of them are better than Bioware's and Obsidian's official campaigns, and it's fun how you can export the same character to different adventures.
There are even NWN2 versions of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, with all the quests remade and dialogue ripped from the original versions.
Elex looks more like it might be up there with the Gothic series, which were really fun because it was worth playing them a second time, unlike NWN which was only worth playing for longer if you loaded an expansion.
Late to the party on this thread, but I have to agree with this. I just finished Blackguards 1 and apart from a few very challenging/unbalanced/frustrating battles I enjoyed it very much. The writing and story in particular are 1st rate in that game. You do have to understand the underlying TDE/DSA system though, or you'll screw up your PC. I'm more of a fan of P'n'P RPGs though, so that might account for some of my enthusiasm for it, as it really plays like a P'n'P campaign.
At a rough guess it was a quest line one of the dev's was working on that wasn't finished in time to include it in RoT hurried release. Finished a bit later it was released as a DLC that was meant to be played as you played RoT.
Of course that might be all twaddle, as the quest line in Phil's Secret has nothing to do with the RoT quest line. :)
If you get RoT it's well worth picking up Phil's Secret too.
