• SSD helps in reducing the amount of bugs and glitches most players experienced in HDD.
• Being an old game, all DLCs are now bundled together in the base game.
For whether you will like it or not, ask yourself the following questions:
• Do I want to play as a police?
• Do I want a Hot Pursuit game that had AIs in FreeDrive?
• How tolerant am I facing against a suicidal police platoon?
• Does customization matter less for me?
• If wanting something more, how willing am I to mod?
Consider this game if the answers are mostly, yes. If not, consider Hot Pursuit Remastered, Heat, or Unbound instead.
What is marginally controllable is a private or friend lobby, and said friends are in the same geographical area as you do to minimize the pings.
Nah I have 50 hours, i just play around with the newbies or just leave them alone because they are not good enough to make me have an enjoyable experience. The one thing i hate in this game is the spike strip ability and shockwave, esf and all this bs. You end up playing with people who just go in a circle and spam repair instead of actually getting chased like they are supposed to...
And if you want an harder Ai, more NPC police car variations etc. you should check out "Need for Speed Rivals+" from GrabussPC.
Personally ive spent over 650hrs on PC (yes, its better than newer titles which i have besides Payback because im sane) with another 300hrs on PS4.
Online is still alive, and ive managed to form a clan somehow. Look for -Heat- tags
Back to the question, is Rivals worth it in 2024?
YES if:
You dont mind customization, it is there but no fancy bumpers, spoilers or anything - just like in Hot Pursuit
You love police brutality (i would recommend Rivals+ with 1.8 AI for extra challenge)
You like to play online where everyone could at any point wreck you
NO if:
You hate bugs, this is the worst NFS title when it comes to bugs - recommended SSD as well as editing GstRender.MeshQuality from 1 to 3 in documents>ghost games>rivals>settings>open PROFILEOPTIONS_profile
You hate 30fps cap (easily can be changed to 60fps with mod. Higher framerate will cause Rivals to be more unstable, safe spot is 90fps)
You hate the fact that there is basically no story
Those are the main ones that i could come up with. Rivals is still great even with all those bugs, its quite entertaining to see what will happen when [x] will do [y].
Best played with friends, seriously.
Please & TY
I personally recommend using an gamepad (which works flawless with the x64 executable), but of course its your choice.
is 60fps enough or I need to get 90 for best experience? I can't feel the difference
and I have no friend to play with
yeah, this one I can relate. this is old game, is so rare to meet people, yet when they found new player, they just destroy it
