+ Rivals is locked to 30 fps and the fps unlocker is hard to get working if you've never modded games before. Meanwhile hot pursuit is at 60 fps by default + theres a drag and drop mod to unlock the framerate.
Rivals is also wet, all the time, like those "Gta 6 unreleased super modded insanely modded next get 5080 rtx!!11!" videos. The game is pretty i'll give it that, but even if its sunny with no rain your car has water droplets going across it lol.
I wouldn't say I like customization but more of progression. I like upgrading my car in most wanted but I was more excited to buy a new car more than anything.
And yea I really don't care about customization at all, I just considered a waste of money and never thought it was cool. I just like playing the game.
Also both are pretty cheap, rivals is $2 and hot pursuit is like $5, except I got a lot of games back catalogue of games and I'm playing mgsv rnm s
Playing it feels like eating fastfood, you enjoy it but it leaves you unsatisfied.
I liked Most Wanted 2011 more and my personal favorite NFS is Prostreet.
It's close to HPR I'd say and definitely more fun than MW12. Best physics of the Criterion/Ghost titles.
the game is super buggy, unpolished and frustrating.
trying to race is like trying to swim in a mossy puddle of water. cops ruin everything. you are warned.
Aside from that the game is pretty enjoyable. I liked it.
Most of the NFS games with playable police vs. racer gameplay are during the supercar era (1990s) such as Hot Pursuit 2, in which the Hot Pursuit (2010 and its Remastered version) and this game follows.
The short is, this is less like Underground, and more like Hot Pursuit with singleplayer free roam.
SSD recommended.
• Racer: Before Rank 21, will unlock a new car for purchase. After Rank 21, will unlock more liveries for that car.
• Police: Unlocks the car variant based on objective. Example: completing the Undercover objectives will unlock the undercover variant of said car. Unlocked cars are free; no additional purchase needed. After Rank 21, you will get the chance to unlock the other two variants you didn't pick previously.
• Hot Pursuit has heavier handling than Rivals.
• Hot Pursuit has larger car roster than Rivals.
• Few cars are faction exclusive (racer only or cop only) in Hot Pursuit. Opposite in Rivals.
• Hot Pursuit has 4 "weapons" per faction. Rivals had 6, but only 2 can be equipped at a time (to be chosen at Hideout/Command Posts).
• Hot Pursuit events are initiated in a menu. Rival events are started in freeroam.
• Hot Pursuit freeroam (FreeDrive) is rather empty; no other NPC vehicles apart from traffic. Rivals freeroam can range between calm (not in chase) and horror (Heat Level 10).
• Cars in Hot Pursuit are unlocked by accumulating Bounty. Cars are unlocked by increasing a rank (complete a list of objective, selectable) in Rivals.
• Getting wrecked or busted will end the event (or let you spectate other players in multiplayer) in Hot Pursuit; earned Bounty are still kept. Getting busted or wrecked will cause any SpeedPoints earned in that session to be lost as racer, kept as police.
• Hot Pursuit multiplayer are more organized: a lobby to gather 8 players together, then the host will arrange the events to play. Rivals multiplayer is more like MMORPG without the first M: maximum of 6 players in Redview County doing their own thing, until they start ramming each other.
• When a player leaves the game, Hot Pursuit rounds will continue as usual. In Rivals, due to its freeroam nature, may cause the gameplay to be briefly interrupted when the host leaves, as the game had to migrate the group to a different host.
In summary, Hot Pursuit recommended when wanting multiplayer, Rivals recommended when wanting singleplayer.
