Need for Speed™ Rivals

Request for some gameplay tips
1. Is it better to drift around corners for max speed?
2. Is it better to play as the street racer or cops first, which is easier?
3. Is the game easier when you get the faster cars?
4. Is there a shortcut command to set gps to nearest hideout? Reason for asking is that it is hard to navigate through the command menus to select hideout when you are being chased by 2 or 3 cop cars.

lol what the hell is that first reply. Love it when people reply like that.

Random disclaimer: I mainly play Singleplayer. Also, I do have the timesaver pack purchased, I already have something like 400+hrs on PS3, if I could, I'd just copy and paste my PS3 progress over to PC (this applies to BF4 even more), but since cross-platform saves for this game and many others isn't a thing (maybe if its from PS3 to PS4), I am not about to redo everything.

1. Can't say really say/never really paid attention tbh. This is an arcade racer after all but if we were to apply real life logic, it kinda depends really. The general answer people give is "drifting is slower in corners". However its really dependent on various factors and once again, that is for IRL drifting vs grip. General consensus is that a balance between the two is the fastest. I would say this is where I sit. If you can't take a proper racing line (close to apex), having the car enter a slight slide where you don't really lose speed, but you're also not gaining speed as if in a straight line. However I don't consider myself a pro at any game, so maybe its best if someone else tossed their thoughts on that and you decide. For me its dependent on time/place and car.

2. Cops are way easier. You can speed around anywhere and do whatever, no one is going to stop you. You can initiate chases with racers whenever you want, or just drive around and enjoy your cars and explore/cruise around. Getting wrecked and having to actually go back to menu, nothing is lost. Your SP stays no matter what. only challenge is doing Rapid Response since you get time penalties for collisions. Some find it difficult, others not so much. I can't really give much of a response because I already have something like 300+hrs on PS3 as just a cop, and 150+hrs as Racer (on PS3). Didn't take long for me to almost 100% cop career again (only thing stopping me from 100% is unlocking the OW exclusive Bentley Continental). As racer, you have a total SP pool, and "session" SP. Total is your grand total. Session is when you leave the hideout and you're in the world. Whatever you earn, you need to bank it via entering hideout or risk losing all of it if you get busted or wreck. You're also gonna get chased, a lot. As an example. NFSMW2012, sure many would say its a bad NFS game but whatever. I play for the cars, not the story. In that game, cops only chase if you either do collide into civies in front of them (specifically in front of them, if its behind them, don't care), if you stunt around (burnouts, donuts?) in front of them, collide with them (obviously), or if you drive past them at speeds greater than 100mph (160kmh). In this game? If I recall, once you're close enough to them (vicinity, doesn't matter which direction they're facing/you're facing), they'll pop lights and sirens, basically once you're in vicinity, regardless of what you're doing, you best start running. Also on the PS3 version at least, when you outrun the cops, there is a possibility that the game will continue to spawn cops behind you every 200m, so your "escape bar" never fully fills up and you escape. I've been in chases that have gone on way longer than they should've because the game would literally plop a cop behind me at a set interval (literally spawn in the air and drop behind me as I looked back). However this was on the PS3. Not sure if this is presently an issue on PC (haven't played Racers much). Also, if we look at the stats, even when everything is maxed out, The Koenigsegg One:1's top speed is 10.0 flat for racers, as a cop its 15. What does that mean? 283mph (or close to) for the cop version. Racer version doesn't even come close to that top speed. Not by a long shot, I think it tops out at like 240mph, might actually be less. I think even strength and durability stats are also higher as a cop. 10.2 strength, 10.0 durability for the Aventador Enforcer (and Jaguar CX-75 Enf). 10.1 acceleration for the fastest cop cars (Aventador, Koenigsegg One:1, maybe more). I can't really grab the max racer stats per car and I'm not plugging in and booting up my PS3 just for stats but the top speed stats between the Racer/Cop One:1 is as shown. Also cops earn NOS by just driving fast. No need to drive into oncoming.

3. Yes and no, but for the most part, yes. Higher tier cars = higher tier pursuit tech. More damage, faster recharge, longer lasting, you get more to use and ofc better overall stats. The "downside" is that everyone else is fast AF, imagine driving a Koenigsegg One:1 with a theoretical top speed of 283mph but getting outrun by a Ferrari F12 when IRL the One:1 can do 200-300kmh (124mph/186mph) in 5 seconds, F12 does that in 8.8 (stats according to fastestlaps.com). In SP, whatever car you drive, they match that tier. Pretty simple, pretty obvious. In Multiplayer, I recall its based on majority. If majority of players in a server are driving Tier 4 cars (Aventador, Veyron, Agera, etc.) and you drive your Charger or Camaro (Tier 1), all the free roam racers will be Tier 4. If its a mix of Tiers, tbh I don't really remember, last I played online was years ago, I don't frequently play online anyways but I believe it would still be majority anyways so you have one person playing each tier, and someone joins and they pick say...Tier 1, all freeroam racers I believe will be Tier 1, don't think this applies to events but once again, rarely played online.

4. Without general map knowledge you're stuck with D-Pad Right > GPS > Nearest Hideout/Command Post. Not much more to tell you. Gonna have to get used to the controls.

Ok thanks. I will switch to the cop missions for now until learning the map and controls better. I cannot beat one of the early racer missions, gold interceptor. Escaping the cops but not fast enough.
