2 Versions of NFS Most Wanted
I always thought it was weird they released two versions of this? There is the 2009 Need For Speed Most Wanted where you take on the blacklist and work your way to Razor then there is this 2012 version. From seeing youtube there i an actual difference between the two games but have the same title

The original Most Wanted came out in 2005 and was developed by Blackbox, who also worked on the Underground Games, Carbon and Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2. It was one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed NFS titles to ever exist and was an instant classic.

To put things into perspective, during the following years after it came out, fans were begging EA for to go back to that style of NFS game because they were and still are widely considered to be the golden era of NFS and since then EA had been putting out a new NFS each year with the quality of each one ranging from miss to decent.

EA eventually announced this "Remake" or more appropriately, this "Reimagining" of Most Wanted 2005 in an effort to cash in on one of their most beloved titles and in hopes to capture the excitement of the Black Box Era fans and make them feel they were being heard, but this game plays far more like Burnout Paradise than it does NFS, especially when it comes to the game this one shares it's title with, which makes a lot of sense considering that this one was developed by Criterion, the team behind the Burnout games, because EA had already dissolved Blackbox and made them support other games instead of being able to create their own.

At the end of the day, they're both good games even though they couldn't be any more different from one another. MW 2005 had a heavy focus on illegal street racing, customization, progression and a cheesy but charming story mode while this one focuses far more on beating your friends in leaderboards and open world check listing with almost no story, a laughable excuse for car customization and almost no progression whatsoever.

I do wish that this one had it's own title and identity, like NFS: Fairhaven City for example rather than stealing another NFS game's title, because while it's very different, it's still worth enjoying for what it is: a Burnout Paradise spiritual successor and it deserves to be that without the obvious attempt to cash in on what the series once was and the comparisons and criticisms that inevitably came with it.

People to this day can be seen asking for Blackbox Era NFS Remakes or new games using their handling model and gameplay. Will it ever happen? Probably not because Blackbox no longer exists and even if a remake was greenlit for a different team to work on, it would probably just be more reimaginings like this rather than faithful remakes, which is pretty evident in both this title and the 2015 NFS game simply titled "Need For Speed" which was made in an attempt to recapture what people loved about the Blackbox era, but ultimately didn't deliver due to it being a different team, completely different handling model and an extremely unnecessary and egregious always online connection that didn't even allow you to pause single player gameplay, all but guaranteeing the game an expiry date and destruction unless EA will patch it when support ends (which they probably won't).

TLDR: They are both very different games, but both good. Try to play both, but if you can't then at the very least play the one from 2005.

I didnt like it when BLACKBOX took over the games and or Criterion Studios. I remember that games Need for Speed Undercover. Some of the racers were frustrating like racing towards oncoming traffic. I beat the game and finished it. I enjoyed the NFS Most Wanted version with Razor and working your way up the blacklist, the car customisation was pretty decent.

I decided to buy the 2012 version as it was only $4.50 in the NFS Title sales this week. Cant go wrong for $4.

I had been quite scratched because when I bought it I thought it was the other version. But I can't find the old one.

Leí todo esto y como no pude jugar la versión original de Most Wanted, tendré que conformarme con este juego, en algún futuro espero conseguirlo, he tenido muy buenas referencias de aquel juego.

The old version was 2005, the same name one but different game is 2012. Perhaps they took the 2005 on off steam for some reason
