Input lag is the reason why the driving physics feel off
I bought Most Wanted 2012 on December 31st 2019 on Origin on a sale. I always thought that driving physics felt off. I wasn't able to drive smoothly and avoiding traffic was a problem, I tried both keyboard and controller, Xbox One controller to be exact. I beat the entire Most Wanted list and then I quit the game beacuse I couldn't get gold on speedruns of Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg Agera and just played the original MW instead.

But in Febuary 2022, I've got an urge to revisit Most Wanted 2012. I found out that the PC version has an input lag issue, then I realized that driving feels off beacuse the inputs are indeed delayed, making the controls unresponsive. I always played the game on low graphics settings and with Nvidia's Low Latency Mode on Ultra but that wasn't enough to eliminate the delay. Luckily I found another fix.

I found a config file. It's located in Documents > Criterion Games > Need for Speed(TM) Most Wanted and it's called "config.NFS13Save". I opened it in Notepad, found "VsyncInterval" and changed its value to 0. And that helped. Controls finally feel responsive and without the delay and now I'm having a blast playing this game. I'm playing on keyboard. In arcade racers, tapping keys allows me for a better car control than using the analog stick.

If you're going to buy Most Wanted 2012, keep in mind that you can have delayed and unresponsive controls. Just do as I did, modify the config file in Documents, use all latency reducing settings on your graphics card and problem should be fixed.

If that still didn't help, this Reddit post provides a few more solutions.

Could you tell me if it is in a specific folder? I can't find the file 'config.NFS13Save'

It's not in the specific folder, it's in the directory I mentioned above

Oh my it's so much easier now thanks. I will never understand why Criterion thought delaying the player's input on purpose was a good idea.

Always thought this was on purpose to give the feeling of driving a car, like the weight of it, its nice to have a fix

After using your technique the game started to have slight screen-tearing at high speeds do you have any solution to that?

You pretty much disabled the vertical sync so it's understandable to have screen tearing. I don't have any solution to this unfortunately.

Thank you OP! This completely saved the experience for me!
before editing the game, you better "overclock' your controller to 1000hz. this fix input lag on all games for me, there is a little software called hidusbf.zip from lordofmice on github
