I don't have it on Origin either, I played the 10 hour trial and it's rubbish. The cars drive like crap and you can only own 10 of them, the matchmaking sucks, the graphics suck, the physics are non-existent, the story is boring and full of unlikeable characters and to top it all off you need a permanent internet connection to play. Not to mention it glorifies overrated tuners like Nakai San to "icon" status which is just cringe.
It was bad enough on Origin, this version just has an extra launcher on top.
Why? They're basically the same thing, Payback just has more of everything and can be played offline.
I agree with you with the car physics/handling. For some reason Ghost Games (the devs) made it super scripted and far less smooth/natural than the Criterion NFS games controls. You have to mod in better controls/physics with the Revival mod.
The online only requirement is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, stuff like the nitrous is controlled server side so if you have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ connection, the nitro won't even fill up. Graphics are bad? Buddy, go take a second look or put on some glasses. This is the most beautiful NFS game yet and it looks so much better than the newest Heat game. The matchmaking is much better than Payback, when I want to do just races then I'd choose the speed event playlist. If I want to do only drift events then I'd choose the style playlist. Payback's MP puts all racing types together in one playlist so I could be playing normal races but I don't want to do forced off-road or drift events.
You can bypass the RGN upgrades with a simple Cheat Engine script. At least the upgrades in Payback offer some complexity by letting you chose what you want to focus on (speed, handling, nitro, etc). NFS 2015 just uses the same linear, outdated upgrade system that Underground had 18 years ago. It's just a list of checkboxes that make your car faster, anybody who wants proper upgrades plays Forza.
The graphics look like sh*t, IDK why people hold this game to such high standards in terms of visuals. It doesn't even have dynamic time of day or global illumination, just constant night time, mirror-like puddles everywhere and atmosphere that changes when you enter a new area of the city (for some reason). It feels like another sh*tty Matrix game.
They're still rubbish, also you mentioned RGN earlier, in my time playing NFS 2015 I'm 80% sure that the drift physics in the game are determined by RGN because no matter what I do I can never control when the car drifts. Sometimes it drifts when I drive in a straight line and other times it stays glued to the ground even when I try to powerslide around a corner.
That's not saying anything, Heat is a mess all around.
W/e I'll give you the benefit of the doubt 'cause I only played this POS for 10 hours (more than enough time to beat the game though).
The always-online requirement alone makes it worse than Payback by a mile. A game that you can't play is useless, and NFS 2015 is living on borrowed time.
The game is bad, because if you don't have internet, you can't play it. That is stupid game design and only stupid people buy such games.
An MMORPG is one thing, but when the game does not require other people and could be played alone, it's only greed making it online-only.
