what game are you playing where there's plentiful ammo? The game definitely is within my comfort zone, but ammo is a major problem throughout the game. In fact it's probably a bigger issue than enemies.
so far there are no in-your-face jumpscares (like Five nights at Freddys or slenderman or outlast).
If anything, I felt less hesitant as I continued to play the game and more intrigued (the tense atmosphere and dread still remained and some things got creepier) and I think you'll like it do. I used to be very scared of Survival horror and avoid them like the plague, but this game makes me want to try out stuff like resident evil and dead space :D
To make the game less scary:
- Play in daylight or well lit rooms, Raise the brightness on your game if need be if you are having trouble seeing stuff.
- Take a break from playing on rough day
- Lower the game/volume, and/or listen to some motivating music when you play the game (I sometimes like to listen to rock when playing horror games or scary levels - makes me feel awesome. However I didn't need to use this method for signalis since it has a very beautiful score)
- Look up guides or maps if you want to know enemy and map positions (Seldom used this method except when I was making things WAY more complicated for myself and feeling frustrated) there are several on steam and some are spoiler free
- Check the game's main website for content warnings
Overall I think Signalis is a game everyone should play if they are able to not because it is amazing work of gaming and art (though it is very much that) but because it invites you to speculate and fill in the blanks in some areas and its got some amazing characters. I cannot say anymore without spoilers but I invite you to come down this rabbit hole join us.*
If for any reason you find Signalis isn't the kind of horror game you wanted, you still should be to get a refund within a week of playing or before you play two hours of it (whichever one comes sooner). Also be careful browsing online - since the game has been out for a while there are some people already sharing minor spoilers.
*You'll see soon enough what I mean by this, Have Fun and Remember your Promise!
