Any tips on the first boss fight?

As the title says. I've been enjoying the game so far but have found myself a little stumped by the first boss fight. There's very little to no feedback on how well you are doing, and I feel like I just keep pumping shot after shot into the bosses face when she goes into the vulnerability state, just to get my ass kicked by her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minions.

When she goes down, hold your aim until the square gets smaller; it seems to do more damage. You can get 3-4 shots in each time. Use thermite on the enemy spawns so she can't ressurect them. Took me 3 cycles of her going down to kill her with just the pistol.[\spoiler]

Thermite gets rid of the minion bodies.
They go down in two hits so I personally just took them down quickly and focused on her, fight ended pretty quickly. Don't shoot the boss when there's an X because your bullets will just bounce off...pretty sure you have to wait for her face to be exposed

Bring two thermite to perma kill the two Ara, then on Normal difficulty it's 15 handgun bullets to kill Mynah.

Everyone is telling you to use the thermite to kill the minions when you can use a single thermite as a melee weapon to one shot the boss. Not only that, but touching Mynah (you suffer damage ofcourse but not much) will force her to open her helmet almost instantly, giving you time to stab her with the thermite before any of the minions spawn.

Yes, you can use thermites as melee weapons. Yes, you can stab Mynah when she opens her helmet and one shot her with it.

Doesn't seem to be working for me. I keep spamming the tool key while Mynah is open, but I just stand there taking damage.

Here's what I've done in both of my playthroughs:

• Like others have said, use thermite on the 2 enemies that the boss summons. I try to take them out when the boss is stunned so I don't get hit.
  
• When she is stunned, use the opportunity to run around picking up items at first
  
• Use the pistol first. It takes a lot of shots (at least on Survival), but not too many
  
• Run circles around the pillar on the left side of the room! As long as you're patient and don't take risks, the boss fight is actually really easy since the pillar blocks her attacks. Don't leave the safety of the pillar until the boss is stunned.

You need to be extremely close, the range of the thermite when used as a melee is shorter than the stun prod. Here a vid where it shows how to in casual difficulty, it can still be done on Survival just be ready to heal after getting touched.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i didn't even know this was a feature. When speedrunning i didnt even bother to pick them up, now they seem like the most valuable item I could pick up on the run.

Gonna be honest I did exactly that like, a dozen times and I havent been able to trigger the instakill. It's getting really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ irritating being stuck on this level.

Hi I hope you figured it out. I dropped the difficulty below survival and was not able to use the thermite trick on the boss either. However, I was able to complete the fight by running up to the boss, getting hurt and instantly running away, and open firing with my pistol. If you wait for the box while aiming to get smaller, it does more damage so you can use less ammo if needed. I hope you're able to get through I know I'm a year late!

I actually finished the game about a year ago lol. Ended up being one of my favorite games I've ever played. Ironically, I don't quite remember how I beat Mynah. I think I might have just been wasting ammo on her while she was invincible like a dimwit and wondering why she wasn't going down.
