You use it to take photos. It's basically a diegetic way of taking notes of various codes that are not presented as documents to be saved in your database.

For example, in the Hospital where you first pick it up there's a puzzle involving opening a door to the surgery room. One of the keys needed for it is the blank keycard that needs a specific combination. You can find that combination by checking the x-ray room. A card is locked behind glass, so you look at the card, memorize the pattern, and then copy that pattern onto the blank card. You can memorize the pattern, write it down on your notepad, take a photo of your screen / screenshot it, or you can use the eidetic module to take a photo in-game that you can also check in-game

Yeah. I don't know either. I haven't used it even once. Maybe it's there for puzzles. But i was taking notes and draw pictures on a piece of paper next to the keyboard, so I didn't need to take any pictures by module.

It is possible, but I'm not sure where it might be hidden. Can't be more challenging than the SSTV messages

It's for taking photos and capturing clues the game doesnt give you in your memories menu.

for example taking a picture of the briefing room tables planets orbiting since their positions are a requirement for a safes combination later on

Sure, but I suppose this is there for immersion purposes. Though frankly making it an extra item rather than simply adding it as a permanent option once found is self-indulgent from the devs.
