It's fairly short so there is really no issue reading it. Though in general, most consider just the first four stories to be worth reading as they are part of the main King in Yellow. The rest just seems to be random stories that don't really do much.

Read the first four stories. They’re amazing.
And connected. Some of the same characters are mentioned (or are later the narrator) and The King in Yellow effects them all.

The rest aren’t the same kind of thing.

Also I want to discuss the ending of The Mask with someone.
Ppl take something away from it and I think they’re missing something.
The description of places in the book seem great. But what others said, the first four stories are the only ones that are connected in a way. It's great, but not exactly a grand cosmic masterpiece as some would say. At least, not to me.

The king in yellow is my favorite "Lovecraftian" horror book. It was lovecraft before lovecraft. Definitely worth a read, if only to see where a lot of modern cosmic horror was seeded from.
