STRIKERS 1945
Excited, but...
V excited for this. But, the five frames of input lag, that is apparent on the switch ports of the entire psikyo collection, must be removed. Otherwise this port is likely going to be shunned by the shmup community at large.

oh did these guys do the psyvariar port? that's good news, that's a decent port.
as long as it's not just a straight port of the switch psikyo games :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for posting.
First, I would like to inform you that there is no delay on the program.
However, depending on your devices, there may inevitably be a slight delay that depends on your monitor or gamepad.
One thing I can say is that updating the gamepad's firmware may improve it.
The team of Psyvariar is also working with us to develop and validate it.

We hope you will continue to support us.

The Steam version, while based on the Switch version, includes additional modes and features, so it's not a direct port.

They have a press release on their website, with more details on this title, and the 9+ titles they plan to release on Steam soon:

https://psikyo-portal.com/pressrelease_200422.html

To quote it:

«This version on Steam is based off the the Switch version released in 2017, but will have new features such as Score Attack mode and Online Rankings. We will also have Steam Achievements.»

this sounds all really promising so far.
i'm getting hyped for this. :wryncheer:

ther are some things i would love to see
1. autofire
a game like gunbird really benefits from 30hz autofire.
would be nice to not need a external program for that.
2. random stages
games from strikers 1945 2 onward have a default stage order.
every time you start your pcb you get the same stage order.
a easy and fast way to restart the game would be much appreciated.
3. hud
on the screenshots infos like your bombs, lives and score are located in the yoko artwork.
i prefer the original arcade way of doing that by showing that info in the gamescreen.
4. replays
a replay feature is such a nice thing to have because you don't need to waste hdd space every time you record a run.

i know i'm asking much but it is just my love for psikyo speaking here.
with this features the ports would be like 100% perfect and day 1 buy for me for all of them.
thanks for listening.

forgot to add this.
the hud thing is really important because sometime you need the ingame hud for visual cue to setup for safespots.
and of course a practice mode is always nice to have in an stg.

The original arcade version also has an input delay.
This delay has been improved on the 1945II and later boards.

However, I felt that this input delay was reduced more than the Switch in my experience.

5 frames only? How long is 5/60 of a second?

Edit: Is 0,083 seconds of delay that big? I mean Striker isn't really a Bullet Hell...

I'd say that Psikyo games combine harsh rapidness of Raiden with bullet spam of bullethells.

Like, in Raiden-like you don't have that much bullets but enemy attacks are fast and many precise snipers.

While in bullethells usually there are much more bullets but most of them are more or less slow and you dont have as much straight shots coming at you.

Yet in Psikyo shmups you have both very fast striking attacks aimed at you AND screen gets pretty much bullethelled (even if not to extent of something like mushihimesama or touhou, but still). And i think hitbox here is not as small, so its harder to dodge.

Ofc my impressions might be incorrect.

I can see some bullet hell elements in the game but I also think that this game came too early to be truly one (I mean most people agrees upon Battle Garrega or Batsugun to be the first danmaku game)
