Can't change controls for controller

With new update there are new controls for the new game mode, and they're grayed out, so it's impossible to change them. This makes impossible to change general controls.

For example I can't use Y\Triangle as jump, it's just awful for me, so I switch it to A\Cross, but now I can't do that.

Dear player,

Sorry for the bad experience.

If you see a red box while reassigning keys, it indicates that the selected key is already assigned to another function.
Please scroll down the page to review the key settings and check if any other keys are also highlighted in red.

We recommend trying to assign it to another key that is not currently in use.
Alternatively, you can first reassign the key in another function/mode, and then try again.

Yeah I'm having this problem too. First, whenever the game has the slightest update that comes out my rebinds go back to default (aside from the latest issue of V-Sync not saving when I start the game and thus heats up my PC cause it tries to do 200+ FPS). Second whenever I try to rebind Jump to my A button and the Dropkick to Y, the game doesn't let me apply the settings because "Apply" button. is grayed out.

EDIT: I went back to the main menu and was able to swap the controls around and yeah the A button had a red box around it. Was trying to do it mid-game and I guess i missed it or something. My bad on that. Regardless it's still a silly thing to constantly default the button assignments with each update.

No matter what button you rebind there's always a conflicting button, and some of them you can't change. This is very frustrating and there doesn't appear to be a solution.
