Today update needs clarification about button mashing
About the optimization #2 "Pressing action key/buttons can speed up your character awakening from KO".

What it means to "can" speed up? Is there a limit an how much you need to press to reach a limit or is just mash buttons and the faster you press, faster you wake up?

I think this need a clarification because is there is no limit on how much you need to press on wake up during a test I just made. Some people will just use a controller with turbo function or even a keyboard macro that will just keep pressing buttons automatically until you get up.

And the difference between not presisng buttons at all and mashing buttons is huge. During a test I just made, local players, same skin just to compare the exact same scenario with both players, using a flying kick as a knock out, the player that did mash buttons got up almost 5 seconds faster than the one that did not press a single button. This is a huge difference. Initial test was done with both players at full health and mashing I was able to get up at about 3 to 3.5 seconds while not mashing at about 5 to 5.5 seconds. This may change when having lower health and stamina but it is hard to measure without knowing the players health exactly.

I am not saying that I dislike this optimization, as this was never explained before, I mashed buttons thinking that I got up faster (as far as I know this was never explained before) and also to counter someone grabbing me.

Even if you somehow supress or detect turbo/macro, some players can mash buttons faster than others, I guess this is no news for anyone out there.

So could we have some explanation on how this works?

Maybe you should try it out what does mean the speed up that way at KO. It's new update, developers won't reply so fast, if you think that, they are busy and they can't reply usually for every little questions. So i suggest try it out, you will know it then. Maybe they mean the walk + run, when you KO and that way speed up. But as i see, you tested it already, but you didn't get full answer. I wrote down how i think how they meant by that. Maybe ask the same on the website's forum, there sometimes i saw developers a bit more often randomly, maybe you will get 100% reply for it from a developer, but maybe not. Or if another player know it well.

Since a friend told me that about it, i quote what he said:
"When you get KO'd, you can now press Jump, Run or whatever to get up faster"
So my thinking about it maxbe was right.

I will quote myself

"This is a huge difference. Initial test was done with both players at full health and mashing I was able to get up at about 3 to 3.5 seconds while not mashing at about 5 to 5.5 seconds."

I thought this already was a thing? Has my button mashing been doing nothing until now?

it's not important. just mash buttons. thread closed

It is important, if frequency of buttons is what gets you up faster, people will abuse this by making macros

Did they playtest this at all? I've played 2 matches of ichiban so far and every round goes way too long with everyone having to throw things at people to stop them from climbing back up for the 10th time. The second match was the first time I've ever seen ichiban end in a draw because it was taking so long.

It doesn't even improve on the gameplay at all either, everyones just defaulting to whatever knocks out the longest and the only thing that will reliably kill you is the one guy in the match thats nailed the physics of flinging you out of the map in half a second before you wake up.

As I said in the initial post, I don't think this was ever confirmed, I also did, but never tried to test if it was quickier or not and now we are not able to test it by downloading an earlier version because the game needs to connect to the master server before playing locally and the mistached version will not allow you to login (maybe?).
