With left click you can shoot. But check in the Settings, where you can set keys.

If your animal is holding the melee or ranged weapon correctly, press Punch to use it. (If your animal is not holding it correctly, it will just throw it.)

Thus, if you haven't altered your control setup, on keyboard + mouse, press left click. On an Xbox controller. press X.

There's an auto-aim feature on the bow that kind of targets an enemy in your sight. It's not always accurate, but it's there. It's like an invisible crosshair. The further away they are, the more accurate it'll be. If they're right on you, they're going to punch or kick you down. I used to think people were using aimbot or something before I understood how it actually worked.

Disarming someone with a weapon, I've found the easiest way is to find a weapon yourself (preferably a bow or something like the shovel or lollipop) and time their swing (or shoot them from afar). If there's no weapon, still, time their swing and try to go in for a drop-kick. That's the riskier option... I've been thrown across the map for not getting the timing right.
